This man is an inspiration. Only a few years ago, I found out that J. J. Braddock was in fact my grandmother's cousin! I am honored to be somehow related to this man!

It was a very good movie that made me want to learn more about the man. He was a role model the like of we will probably never see again. Athletes today could learn a thing or two from his life. Thank you for this website, it is very informative.

Some comments here against both Baer and Braddock are unsubstantiated ignorant nonsense. Baer was not the demon portayed in Cinderella Man. He lost the fight simply because he took the fight for granted and did not train enough. Calling Braddock a coward after his fight against Louis is also rubbish. He was pulverised from the third round onward but refused to throw in the towel, that is why Louis remarked on his bravery. I have yet to see a hollywood film "based on a true story" come even close to telling the truth.

I'm leaving in Canada and I just want to say Mr. Braddock was a great man with a big heart. What a beautiful family he had and he took care of them. Bravo!
