James J. Braddock - Guestbook
Welcome to the official guestbook of the James J Braddock website. Due to spam, we have been forced stop guestbook entries.
I just saw the movie. From this site and the movie, it is obvious that Mr. Braddock was a great man and an excellent role model. My son, 23, loves to box and loves the memory of such a great champion.
Thank you for this site.

what can i say. he was named after what he was. A fairy tail. One of the best if not the best boxers of all time. And this man proved that mirricles can happen and if you have a dream then follow it

I really never knew anything about James J. Braddock. He's was way before my time. However, this movie showed me what an unbelievable man he truly was. The strength and courage this man provided not only to his family, but to a country was astounding. Thank you so much Ron Howard for taking on this worthy project. We need to see more good in the world. It gives hope to us all and that is a wonderful thing. God bless James Braddock.

Thanks to all those who created the movie and to Jim Braddock and his family for providing such a stiring reminder of never, ever giving up hope. Thanks so much. We need to talk more in our public discourse about what makes life most meaningful, thanks for do that.

The only thing I knew about James Braddock was that he lost his title to Joe. The movie was inspirational, thanks, Ron Howard. I now have lots of respeck for James J. Braddock, the man & boxer.

Wow, what an inspirational movie about an extraordinary person! I'm not a boxing fan, but was dragged unwillingly to this movie by my husband, boy I couldn't have been more wrong. It was so much more than just a sports movie about boxing. This was a story of courage, heart and guts. The depression was shown as it was and it just was a about a man of incredible

What an inspiration to fathers!! As a father of 3 children, 2 of which has Cystic Fibrosis, I am inspired to keep providing for them despite being laid off and then rejected by every insurance company I have applied for.
While unemployed as a web designer during the dotcom crash, I lost my health insurance while then having my 2 kids diagnosed. I freelanced on the side and grew it into a business. Though the kids can't be insured, we plug in and do the best we can. Business is great, even though we must pay medical bills out of pocket.
James Braddock reminded me to plug away. Thanks for heralding your father's achievement for other's to learn from!!

Congratulations to Ron Howard, Russell Crowe and Renee for bringing this wonderful man's story to the theaters. My husband and I saw the movie today and when I got home, I went straight to the computer to learn more about the life and story of Jim Braddock. What an inspiration to see such an athlete with such a strong sense of family and morality as Jim Braddock. Something that is so missing in todays athletes Your website is great and you should all be proud to be related to this wonderful human being.

I was born in nyc 1937. Saw Joe Lewis fight on very early TV in bars with my dad.
He mentioned JJ many times with great reverrence. Now I know why. The real story is my growing up and riding my bike around & around & around Madison Square Bowl. day after day after day. We lived only a few blocks away. I watched while the amed forces post office was built on the site for WWII. No more bike riding in the bowl. There is a fact missing about the bowl that my dad placed in my head. It was "the largest sports arena in the world" seating 150,000 for boxing. Watching the movie, I was able to put myself right there with goose bumps. I can not fully image 150,000 people rooting for one man. This is Now one of the 10 best movies on my list. Thank you Ron Howard! And JJ's family, who I am sure were a great help to Ron.

Sad to say until recently I wa not aware who James Braddock was. I've lived in N Bergen most all my life and spent a lot of time in the Park bearing his name. My grandfather Alex DeAnna was a grounds keeper there. My other grandfather Gary Fagliarone was a N Bergen policeman who would take us kids there to fish in the lake (something my father, who still lives in NB, does with my kids). I just want to say that its an honor to be from the same area as such a great man.

After seeing "Cinderella Man", I had to google Jim Braddock and game across this site. I was not real enthusiastic about seeing a boxing movie, but was inspired by the story. I was sharing with my teenage niece, and she also shared how much she loved the movie. We agreed that it was so inspiring and that we needed to be reminded what our ancestors went through doing the Great Depression. I am so glad I went to this 'boxing movie' because I was moved to tears and inspired beyond measure!!

Having never heard of James Braddock before I saw the movie I now wonder why it took so long for his story to come out. His victory was one for us all-a great testimony to the triumph of the human spirit and his story, I'm sure, will be an inspiration to anyone who does learn about or sees his story on screen. Thanks to those who made this film and let us learn about this modest, hard-working family man who gave people hope in a time when there really wasn't any. Bravo Mr, Braddock!

I just saw the movie for the first time. I typically don't get into boxing, however, to me, it was more than just a movie about boxing. It was about a man so strong in his determination to keep his family alive and together during one of our nations most troubled times. Mr. Braddock was a hero in his own rights and very deserving of all that he earned.

Just saw the movie "Cinderella Man" and I was deeply moved by the courage, determination and love of Jimmy Braddock. Life is like boxing, you must fight hard enough to stand in the ring!

Thank you for sharing this story of inspiration, hope and love. It epitomizes what America was then and what it can become. Let us hope it inspires ALL of us to remember the common man (and the un-common Jim) and make this country great once again!

My wife and I just saw Cinderella Man. What an inspiration. I was born in 1933 and know what my mother and dad went throughl My wife didn't want to see a boxing movie but relented and loved it. I used to watch Joe Louis and the other greats on Friday night fights. Didn't see Braddock but now know what a great man he was. How about an oscar for Russel Crow, and Ron Howard?

We just saw Cinderella Man and we were blown away! We were so impressed by the relationship James had with his kids. The love he had for his wife as well - just amazing.
It was heartbreaking to see how hard those days were for all. How inspiring to see an ordinary guy overcoming the odds to triumph!

I saw CINDERELLA MAN last evening and was moved beyond belief.I googled Braddock to learn more as I basically know nothing about boxing or boxers.I am so glad that Braddock's story was brought to the screen.I would have never inquired otherwise. This was an amazing man.

In a culture where sports figures are too often outlaws and thugs, it is so refreshing to learn about an average man, decent and guileless, whose love for his family motivated him.
I dare anyone to try to make it through the film "Cinderella Man" with dry eyes.
Young people today need someone to look up to. They should read Jeremy Schaap's book on a great man, James J. Braddock.
