James J. Braddock - Guestbook
Welcome to the official guestbook of the James J Braddock website. Due to spam, we have been forced stop guestbook entries.
A great movie! Another one of Ron Howard's movie greats with Russell Crowe. I have admired Crowe since I first saw him in The Gladiator. A brutal movie but loved Crowe. Since then I've tried to see everything Crowe has been in. He does a wonderful job portraying James Braddock. As immingrants the Irish were treated horribly once they began coming to the United States. So I'm glad to see an Irishman come out fighting and determined to win. Braddock did just that! What a great story, and I hope Braddock's family was proud of the way the movie presented him. Resting peacefully now, I hope that James Braddock now knows how proud we are of him and his battle through the Depression and his own internal battles. I'm proud to be Irish myself, proud to been born a Doyle!!

I am an active duty member in the United States Air Force currently serving a tour away from my family and I just had the pleasure of watching this movie. I never heard of Mr. Braddock before tonight but if that was a true vision of what the man was really like than the world is a better place for the message he sent. It gives me courage and strength to endure the challenges that come my way when I see that normal god fearing people like Mr. Braddock were able to pull through such adversities. Thanks to all involved with bringing this man and his families story to life. It was truly a pleasure.

I'd not heard of Jim Braddock before I saw the movie - and I am 66 years old! "Cinderella Man" will be a big contender at Oscar time, I am sure! A great movie.

Any man who could go eight rounds with Joe Lewis had to have been a good boxer. A great story--a great movie!

Greetings!
My wife and I saw Cinderella Man last week, and it was incredible. Between the compelling story, and Ron Howard's excellent directing, most of the audience was leaning forward in the seats at the end of the movie. Outstanding! I love history, but didn't actually know the ending in this case. We thoroughly enjoyed learning more about the Man, and this website is excellent! I would like to find video of any of Mr. Braddock's fights, if they exist.
Thanks very much!

I saw Cinderella Man without knowing the story behind it. I found myself rooting out loud for James Braddock even though it was just a movie. This story is one that will inspire me forever. James' family is blessed to have this incredible legacy in their past.

I grew up in Hortonville, a small hamlet just down the road from the Braddock summer home in North Branch, NY. Seeing the wonderful movie The Cinderella Man brought back fond memories of those summers. I saw the Braddock family in church every Sunday. All us kids hung out with Jay, Howie and sometimes RoseMarie at the old swimming hole, or congregating in the evening by the old bridge over the creek near my house. They were unprentious kids and I am proud to have known them.

Last night my Dad, brother, and I went to see the movie of James Braddock. I wasn't expecting anything great from the movie. I was mistaken, big time! This movie and this man's life were amazing. It was nothing like traditional Hollywood movies. They stuck with the real life of this man. I walked out of the theatre feeling as though I had lived a part of this man's life. I wanted to find out more about him. I'm so happy this website exist's. I hope more people go out and see this great movie! Thank you for sharing his life with us.

What a great movie and great life James Braddock had. Cinderella Man is no doubt my favorite boxing movie that I have ever seen. A man of true character and compassion for his family is refreshing these days.

My husband and I are originally from North Bergen, NJ, the home of Jim Braddock and his family. After seeing "Cinderella Man," Ron Howard's excellent movie depicting the life of Jim Braddock, we had a greater appreciation of the man who sat next to us at Mass on Sundays at Immaculate Heart Chapel in North Bergen. My grandfather visited on weekends from New York City and made a point of sitting near Jim and his family. He knew what a great man Jim Braddock was because he followed his career, and was himself a survivor of the depression. To reiterate what great people Jim and Mae Braddock were, here's a shortened version of a story about my brother's meeting Jim and Mae Braddock. My brother and his friend knocked on the door of the Braddock's home sometime around 1963-1964. Mae answered and the boys asked for Mr. Braddock's autograph. The boys were invited in and given autographs and a look at memorabilia from Jim's career. To our family, that spoke volumes about what a great man he was.

Just came back from seeing "The Cinderella Man" with my husband.
What an unbelievable story of determination and love.
You are truly blessed to have had such a wonderful loving father and mother.
My husband and I were inspired and honored to have had the opportunity to see "into" your families life through the awesome talents of Russell Crowe, Renee Zellweger, Paul Giamatti, Craig Bierko, and director Ron Howard.
Thank you for sharing your story with us all!! God Bless.

Aloha to your family from our's, here in northern california..truly enjoyed this great tribute of a man and the adversity he went through to sacrifice for his family and their lives. I hope they can make more movies like this that are wholesome, builds character and integrity around family values and most of all never giving up! It really made me think about my parents and grandparents from the islands and the great trials and struggles they went through so that the future generations of our family could enjoy as in what we have today. I have a feeling that they are looking down at us from heaven saying how blessed and rich we are in this time of the world and how they had a great part in this so as to we might enjoy the fruits of their labors. God bless your great family and peace be with your posterity always, aloha, Faith

Amazing individual and provider. What a time to grow up in and James undying vision and belief in himself inspired my wife and I to go for it, never give in to mediocrity, and to impact lives because of the same values and example that James lived. Awesome movie and person!!
