I didn't know where to post this question, so...

I really enjoyed the movie about James Braddock! I especially appreciated his humility and the way he loved his entire family and was devoted to them completely. :)

My husband & I went to see the movie yesterday. I'm usually not a big boxing fan, but I loved this movie. We are seniors and I believe everyone our age and our children should see this movie. It depicts what the depression was and how it affected people. Jim Braddock was a noble man and was loved by so many. His family, I'm sure, is very proud of this movie and of him.

Wow! What an incredible, inspirational man. he was. I love how Rosemarie Dewitt (jr.) plays Sara in the film. I have been in welfare lines with/for my children, different circumstances. i have had to ask for handouts. I am also a professional who entered a tough period. Boxing has been in my life since i was a child through my father, and i grew up knowing alot about it...we have a prizefighter in the family. James,...70 years later, you are remembered by THIS woman as an incredibly courageous man who fought and won for your greatest loves...your wife and children. Thankyou for the inspiration. Thankyou for this website and all the great history! Thankyou for the movie. I will buy it and watch it again and again. Here i go to get my gloves and bag.

I loved the movie, and I'm finding out all I can about Braddock and his family. Best movie I've seen in a long, long time. I wondered about the lives of the Braddock children and grandchildren. What an honor it must be for you to have this story so portrayed in the movies. Beautiful love story. Beautiful depiction of the Irish Catholics and their strong faith. Gentleman Jim Corbett (another boxer) is a distant relative. I've been looking into the web to learn more about him. I was flabbergasted to see his picture and find so many family traits. The web is an amazing too.
God bless the Braddock family. I hope you have stayed true to your Catholic roots.

I just saw the movie Cinderella Man. I was from North Bergen. I said to my husband that there was something named after James. Now I remember. the park. I lived directly across the street on Boulevard East. James was a real saint.

Best movie of the year for me. Gave me many memories of a Great Uncle, that was also a boxer during that era. "Chick West" was his name.
What an inspiration this movie was. Tough man, during tough times, that showed so much style and "Class"
I will have this movie for my collection for sure. Thanks for making a movie worth seeing. It was great.

What a wonderful movie. The actors all did a wonderful job, and I hope that the man who played Braddock's manager gets an award for his part. He was the best actor in the movie. I can't imagine why there is not more publicity. I am very thankful for good family entertainment, and this was definitely a movie with family values.
Thank you for sharing the life.

I remember hearing my father reminiscing about fights involving Mr. Braddock when I was a child. I didn't know what to expect when I went to see the movie, Cinderella Man, but I'm very glad I did. My husband and I saw the movie today and really enjoyed it. First of all, I don't understand what is going on with Paramount saying they'd refund your money if you didn't like it. It was a great movie! Russell Crowe is great, as always. He just transforms himself as in all his roles. The rest of the cast was great too. The kids-adorable! The story of Jim Braddock was very moving. Once again, something from the past comes up and I so wish my dear Mom and Dad were still alive so I could ask them about it. My mother was born in 1909 and dad in 1915. I'll think sometimes that I had exhausted so many subjects with my Mom, who lived to be 90. But of course, one realizes, there is so much more I would love to ask them about. I think that is also the value of movies like these--the glimpse into the past. I was teary eyed thinking of my parents and grandparents having had to live through the Depression. The scene when he swallows his pride and goes in for public assistance is so telling of the attitude of self-reliance that people had at the time. My mother, who at age 14 worked in a grocery store, said that at times she was the only one keeping the family of herself, mom&dad and 5 younger siblings, afloat. And I can hear her words "And my mother was always so proud that we never had to 'go on the dole.' After the movie, I commented to my husband about the change in attitude--in other words , from our vantage point today, what was so shameful about it? But that was pre-FDR and ideas of Social Security, government saftey net etc. Again, great movie, wonderful subject. Surely a mother and a father to be proud of as many of their generation were!

My wife and I had the opportunity to see "Cindarella Man" this aftrnoon. Not only was this an exceptional movie it was very moving to get to know something of the character of James Braddock. He was a fine man, father, husband and American. We need more men of his caliber in not only sports but in the fabric of our society. Thank you for this website and for allowing us to know even more about James J. Braddock. Thank you again for taking the time and interest to extend the legacy of a truly special man.

I did not know what the movie "Cinderella Man" was about when I went to see it. I was truly struck by his honesty, courage, concern for his family and his determination to be self sufficient during the hard times of the depression. His children had quite a role model!
He was a winner in more ways than the boxing ring.

A GREAT movie. A GREAT American. Why has nobody ever told this guy's story before? It's people like James Braddock who made this great nation what it is today.

A moving film. One of the few boxing flicks with a sympaphec lead character.
I am not a follower of Russel Crowe but again he plays a character (real one) that we can all love, admire and yes cry.

The Cinderella Man is truly the best picture of 2005 so far. My husband and I enjoyed the movie so much. We like true stories made into great movies. The story was inspirational, a love story of family struggles and strengths. Thanks to Russell Crowe for giving such a memorable performance. I can't think of any other actor who could have played this part with so much passion and conviction. Renee was just wonderful and lastly a salute to the real James Braddock whose life we have been able to see and celebrate on the big screen.
