James J. Braddock - Guestbook
Welcome to the official guestbook of the James J Braddock website. Due to spam, we have been forced stop guestbook entries.
I really enjoyed the movie and got to know more about the J.J Braddock story. It was very inspirational and can relate in many ways.
They do not make many people like J.J Braddock any more..Boxers or any Athletes who have that "throw back" character/make-up.
The integrety of all sports is somewhat diluted with money and steroids, etc.
On a personal level it just shows that you might have skill to succed in sports but if you do not have the heart and drive, you wont last long.

Mr Worthington, I think you are very rude.
If Joe Louis called Jim the bravest man he ever fought that should be enough. Calling a man like Jim a coward is an absolute disgrace. The facts in the movie, who Jim fought, how they went on, is absolute factualy correct. Your opinions of Baer's character and how you feel it was portrayed, are simply opinion. And as I guess you never met him, how would you know what is true?

I just finished watching the movie and agree with Mr. McNabb not a true story.
First of all Braddock when he won from Baer did not fight anyone for 2 years because he knew he would lose. That sir is called a coward, sure he was a good family man and great father but that does not make a man a great champion in the ring, but it does make him a champion with his being a family man. Also, you portrayed Baer as a evil person, can you imagine what the Baer family feels now. He never said those things to Mae Braddock. Most of the film is pure lies. No wonder the crictics gave it a 0

WoW. Nothing else really to say. The Movie was a great way to get a good story to those who otherwise would never had heard it. The struggles, The children falling ill due to no heat, it really makes you think about life in a different respect. My love goes out to the family.

Cant say enough about James Braddock. I was very inspired by the movie and all that I have read about him. I have three boys and I can tell you, they will all see this movie at least a few times. Nothing like knowing a man who beyond all else has his integrity, honor and belief in family. My grandfather was a Golden Glove Boxer in Chicago in the 30's and I remember the stories, this movie brings them all back. Best wishes to you and your families. - Sean

A true inspiration a man any family would and should be proud of. Many men in those times left family behind but his story like so many other untold stories make me look at life in a far different way. I have learned never quit and no bigger inspiration in life thaen your family. Great movie the family should feel honored.
thank you.

I have been wanting to see the Movie "The Cinderella Man" for some time as I am a huge fan of Russell Crowe. I had to do some research first to find out the facts about the fights end with Max Baer. I wanted a happy ending. Now that I have done said research I am very excited to watch the movie and also make it a part of my DVD library.

Does anyone know what part of North Bergen Mr. Braddock lived in? I grew up nearby and it would be fun to know.

to Alton Mcnabb, First of all, the movie is not about Max Bear you idiot! If it was i`m sure they would have paid more attention to his life. This movie is about jimmy braddock and it portrayed the man he was and it inspires millions. I couldn`t wait till the movie came out in the stores to buy it. It is a story worth telling over and over again. The human spirit at its greatest moment.

Just finished watching C.M. I agree with some of the past comments not a true story. First of all Baer was a comedian and really a great man. True he killed 2 men in the ring, accidentally. Baer took care of one of the fighters children. He sent them both to college (CAMPBELL). He was not a mean man at all, learn your facts before you portray a man. True Braddock was a good family man that was the only thing that was true in the movie.

In the days of feel good movies, it was a pleasure to see a great insprational movie based on a real man. Besides having guts, Braddock stayed a humble and clean family man and never gave up, no matter what stood in his way. Fantastic acting and directing. My hats off to Russell Crowe and Ron Howard.

My husband and I just watched the inspiring movie Cinderella Man---and I promptly ran to the computer to see what else I could read about James J. Braddock! What hard times he lived through, and what an example he set for his children, triumphing over such adversity. How lucky you are to be descended from such stock! Thank you for allowing his story to be shared in this way!

WOW is all I can say about this movie. My husband thought I was crazy when I jumped up and starting cheering. I instantly went to the internet to find out more about this man who lets nothing get him down. This family should be very proud of him. It was a very touching movie.
