James J. Braddock - Guestbook
Welcome to the official guestbook of the James J Braddock website. Due to spam, we have been forced stop guestbook entries.
Sorry to say, James J. Braddock's name did not ring a bell before seeing the movie. So if this movie is true, it just goes to show, there is so much unknown greatness out there. It also just goes to show how painful the Depression was. How can you not feel the pain of the Depression after seeing this? How can anything as terrible as the depression was be called great? Then again, sparked by God's mercy opening the door for his humble spirit, the terrible brought out the love, determination and true greatness in Braddock. Many go to high places, but only those who have gone to the lowest places capture the real gratefulness for opportunity of the trip up, thankfulness for all those helping to make the trip up possible and the unconditional right to decency for every single human soul.

As a father of 3 children, James J. Braddock is an inspiration. A "tough as nails" role model who never gave up on himself or his family. I would have liked to have met him. I've placed a picture of him on my bathroom mirror and at my desk. If I ever feel that things in my life get too tough, Braddock's photo will temper my resolve. He is a true American Hero!

Gracias

As an inspirational movie the most gratifying fact is that this man never gave up on himself or his family. However true stories such as this one and many others, always tell of there heroism's, in addition to that this one gave an unprecidented display of what down on your luck is, and what men will do to support their family. I would llike to just say congratulations on your fathers accomplishments.

My Grandfather always told me a story every friday night about, James Braddock, the greatest fighter who lived. He said Braddock brought hope to people during the deppression. He gave me a 1952 Braddock boxing card, Russell Crowe is the only one who could have played this part. I have been out of work for 3-years beacause of a bad wreck, if Crowe is interested in buying photo he can e-mail or call 432-934-5590.

I watched Cinderella Man the movie recently and was so inspried and wanted to know more about him so I found some sites and printed out picture and stuff and hung them in my room. This man is amazing - I may be young but I know a hero when I see one.

We have just watched the movie 'Cinderella Man' and I was so moved that I had to come straight onto the computer and look this wonderful guy up. What an inspiration he was, and proof that the human spirit is stronger than adversity. James Braddock's battles and success make me want to be a better person. All the best to you and your family.

I had the opportunity to watch Cinderella Man, recently, and was so moved by the picture, that I had to get on the internet to read and learn more about Mr. Braddock. From what I have read the movie did a great job of telling the story of the man, as well as his boxing carreer. As a sports fan, and a real fan of of nations veterans, I am truly honored now to know this mans story. I wish all his family the best.

Knowing that I am an avid sports fan, my wife purchased the Ron Howard film the day it became avaiable. While the film is a great one, I was more impressed by the man it described. He must have been a great inspration to many, and can certainly act a role model to today's generation. My wife and I love the movie, and wish we had known the man.

Last night my wife and I watched the film "Cinderella Man," and it really moved us. We live close to where the Braddock family spent some of their hardest years, and their story was an inspiration to us. After so many years, James Braddock is still the hero of the common people. His memory still gives us hope and reminds us not to ever quit no matter what the odds. Our grandparents were Irish immigrants to the US in the 1920's, and watching this film gave us a better idea of what they must have gone through during the depression. We cried so much and felt such joy at watching the triumph of this man, this family, and ultimately the whole deprressed nation. (We have been through some struggles of our own lately, as tougher times begin to loom for many of us once again, and the film really lifted our spirits.) A first-rate acting job was done by the whole cast, making a great tribute to an even greater man. God Bless Jim Braddock - May his memory live forever in our hearts. Thank You.

I saw Cinderella Man for the first time this weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it! After watching this movie about this man of great character, James Braddock, I immediately went to this website to learn more about him. It's a wonderful website and a fitting tribute to such a great man. Three cheers for Ron Howard, Russell Crowe, Renee Zellweger, and all others responsible for the making of this film.

Mr James J braddock was one of those fighters, that this quote fits " Its not the size of the man in the fight, but the size the fight in the man". he had great heart.

I watched the film last night; I remember my Dad (who is 93) talking about listening to the Baer fight on the radio and what a great moment that was for him (and for the country). Thanks for sharing your family's history and Jim's story with the world these many decades later. It is so important these days to remember how the human spirit can triumph over unimaginable odds and not only achieve greatness, but to do so with grace, heart and integrity.

How fortunate that the Braddock family has such a noble legacy handed down to them from James J. Braddock! I remember my father having very high regards for a boxing great of his youth, an Irishman who through determination and skill fought his way to the boxing championship during the Great Depression. I was drawn to exploring your web site after viewing the Cinderella Man movie. Thank you for creating this site for not only your Braddock family, but also for those of us who want to learn more about these inspiring individuals, James and Mae Braddock.
