Just watched Cinderella Man and had to say it was AMAZING! He was a TRUE AMERICAN!! The type of man who is a leader that we can all look up to. If more people had his drive, his dedication, his love of family and of this country then America would have very few problems. A true Warrior!

We watched the movie last night on DVD and neither of us knew who James Braddock was. My husband is a real sports fan so I thought it was unusual that he didn't know who he was. We both loved the movie and were on the edge of our seats through the whole thing. Couldn't believe it was a true story because it was so inspirational. Amazing the his true life was so much better than fiction.

Es una película muy buena.Jim J. Braddock fue una gran persona por lo que refleja la película.Un gran ser humano.Y creo que Russell Crowe puede ganar el Oscar por su fantástica interpretación.

My wife and I just saw the movie on a rental DVD. I am a big historian fight fan and the portrayal of Max Baer was just awful. I feel sorry for the Baer family if they ever watched this movie. I grew up in the 30's and have lots of films about Baer. He was never like he was portrayed in the film. The portrayal of Baer ruined the film as it was a bunch of lies. Indeed Braddock was a good family man and Baer was just a good time charlie person. Baer always respected his fellow fighter. Also, don't forget he killed a fighter and supported the fighter(Camopbell) family with some of his ring money.
Mr. Howard, learn facts first before you make a movie. I score the movie a flat zero.

Watched the DVD last night and just like everyone else, craved for some more information on this man .What an inspiring story! Crowe's performance was fantastic! Not only a great boxing story, but also a wonderful love story. Love can conquer all!
We also enjoyed Joe Gould's portrayal.
Hats off to Ron Howard!!
We'll definitely have this DVD in our collection.

You must be so proud....
what a wonderful dedication this site is to your grandfather. Terrific job!

Just saw the movie last night on DVD. I was born and raised in West New York, New Jersey and never connected James Braddock with West New York. What a shame he is not recognized more for his role in the world of boxing even to this day.

I must say, I am proud to call West New York my home.

My husband and I watched the movie last night and we both thought it was a beautiful and inspirational story. I personally do not think that Mr. Howard was trying to "put down" Max Baer, but to show what a really tough opponent James Braddock was facing and that he won the fight truly made him the "Cinderella Man." We hope to see more movies of this calibar made in the future by Mr. Howard and hope that they include a cast as wonderfully talented as the case that he chose for the telling of this story.

Good day to you...

I had just watched the movie "Cinderella Man" and I had no idea that it was based on a true story. Well, there is a history in my family and professional boxing, so I was glued to my television and thoroughly enjoyed the film. I then went to my computer to research if there was any connection to my Uncle. Low and behold, James J Braddock's last fight was with Clarence "Red" Burman. He is my grandmothers brother. It is truly an honor to somehow be connected to this wonderful story of the love of family and sport. God bless you all and thank you.

My wife and I watched the movie last evening on a DVD. I'm not old enough to know what kind of man Baer was. Some of the readers feel that he was portrayed unfairly. We were most impressed by your father's dedication to doing what was right and fair not only for his family, but for his country. Appreciating our contry is something that seems to be lacking in many of the recent immigrants to our great country.

Ron Howard (aka Opie) always does a fine job with his craft. This was a story about a proud man who had his priorities straight, it just happened to be centered around the sport of boxing. Thank you for allowing us to learn about your father. You must be proud and should be.

Wonderful film, as ever Crowe well cast, intresting comment about "max", yes it would have been more wiser to issue the film with all sporting heros's portrayed as hero's...after all we the people place them there along with the media frenzy.

Just saw the movie with my wife on DVD. We really did not like the film as it portrayed Max Baer as a nasty man. I did some research on Max Baer and found out that he was a wonderful man who brought color in the boxing game when it needed it so bad. Baer was in reality a very very gentle man who never would hurt anyone physical or mentally. Learn facts before you make another movie Mr. Howard.

A beautiful movie, and an inspirational story. I have always been a fan of boxing. My grandfather in Denmark made it to the Olympics in the 1930's. I know more of the story of Jim Corbett, also a San Franciscan, than Jim Braddock. So, the story and outcome was new to me. Also, some of my father's friends went to high school with Max Baer Jr., and I would hate to think his father was unfairly portrayed. I think you could have still had an inspirational, rousing story without showing Max Baer Sr. as a boorish bully. I realize that makes for good drama, but it is unfair. Look at the movie Rocky, and its antagonist,
Apollo Creed, who although slick and smooth, was also portrayed as a family guy as well. Anyway, it's a thought. Next time, Mr. Howard, what about a Max Baer movie? All in all, Cinderella Man had it's heart in the right place, and was a joy to watch!

Just finished watching the DVD of Cinderella Man. I was so moved by the story that I immediately needed to find more information on Jimmy Broddock. Jimmy's career certainly must have been one of God's miracles played out in the arena of boxing for the world to witness.
