A David & Goliath story that inspires from the depths of great love, humility, and honoring others above oneself. "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." 2 Corinthians 12:9
Thanks for being a blessing and demonstrating sacrifice...

What a great movie -perhaps the best boxing movie ever. Jim Braddock was a great fighter - probably the best. And the fact that he beat Max Baer is even better. Truly an Oscar Winning Performance. Braddock seems like an honest man who was truly a Hall of Famer..

Great Movie...how come this movie isn't up for the Oscar...I mean the acting is really great...And how neat that Ron Howard...a great Irish American himself..told the story of Gould and Braddock...how sweet putting Braddock's real grandaughter
in the movie playing the widow Sara Wilson..of the union organizer....The best boxing film...much better than Raging Bull...I have seen. Crowe,Giamatti and Renee are superb!

I think it is about time a director has put out a good quality film that shows the really important things in life. Great movie!

Our greatest citizens of the world many times experience hard-scrabble poverty and extreme difficulty. My wife and I watched the movie in our home and are appreciative to Mr. Howard for a well told story. Now Mr. Howard, may we also request from you a movie about my state's second greatest citizen-who knew poverty as well---Paul "Bear" Bryant? The story of Helen Keller has already been put on the big screen.

I knew The Champ when I was a teenager. My father was a 50 years member of Local 825. I use to hang with him at the Union Hall in Newark during the 50's and 60's.
He inspired me by telling me that he convinced himslef that he could win the fight. I have used that and left the IUOE to become an airline Captain.
You can do anything if you are determined.

The man was magnificent! Truely a legend, not just in his boxing career, and coming back from nothing... he was a kind, humble and devoted father and husband. One of the BEST motion pictures I have seen.

Great piece of work... not just the exceptional motion picture but the man himself. Truly inspirational! Like most people, I recently saw the DVD (x-mas present that I've watched 4 times in 2 days!) and had to search for a website. My compliments to the webmaster.
I did note with interest a picture from the 'boxing' section of the photo galary of the champ at the local NJ Boys Club... did he ever visit the Boys Club of Toledo (aka at the time the "Newsboys Assn.?" I have a unsigned picture of a gentleman in boxing trunks that I couldn't originally identify. I now think it might be Mr. Braddock. Can a family member confirm or refute a possible visit by the Champ to Toledo Ohio in (what looks like) the late '30's or early '40's? Thank you again for sharing this man with the world which desperately needs real-life heros of late.

I'm so glad they did not turn Jim's story into a "rocky" type movie. Mr. Ron Howard treated both Jim and Mae with all the respect deserved for such a wonderful couple. I'm so glad to add the movie to my collection.

What an inspirational story for man and woman!
This movie teaches us the lesson of what really is important - family. It also teaches us that determination and the value of sacrifice and friendship. My
husband and I (who are new parents) can achieve were inspired on so many levels! May God Bless our families. The story of this man is exceptional - bar none!

I watched the movie 12/26/05 and was blown away. I had never heard of Mr. Braddock before the film. I was impressed with this man as a dedicated family man even more than his obvious boxing abilities. It made me look at myself as a father of 2 young boys and reevaluate myself. His love for his family was so deep that it drove him to achievements I believe were over and above his natural abilities. It is unfortunate but you dont see men of this high degree of integrity any longer. Men of this era ditch their families in an effort to fulfill their own selfish needs rather than taking care of what is really important in life. Many could learn from this man.

I read the book awhile back but just now watched the movie.........WOW....just wish I could've met the man in person. I too checked out the website after watching the movie. Advice......read book and watch movie....or watch movie and then read book...either way it's still GREAT. Thanks to Ron Howard/Penny Marshall for films such as this one. Not too many stories such as James' come along. again thanx

I'm a former Staten Island, NY resident. My late father, Kenneth Sr.
remembered Mr. Braddock when he
was working heavy construction equipment. My father was a longtime member/retiree from Local 825 in NJ. Ithoroughly enjoyed the "Cinderella Man" film. Russell Crowe was excellent as Mr. Braddock. It was an excellent
period piece. My father always spoke fondly of Mr Braddock. He didn't know him well-just to say hello to him. I would have liked to have met him myself-my profession is a sportswriter. He seemed like a man you would love to sit, talk, and have a beer with.

Mr. Braddock's dedication to his family was inspiring. He never lost sight of his responsibilities which could have so easily been done during the Depression.

Like with everybody, after finishing watching the movie I ended up on this website. I just needed to find out more about this great man. Ron Howard's film is one of the best I have ever seen, we need more films like this one.

I really didn't know much at all about James Braddock until Cinderella Man.
However, after seeing the movie and reading about him, he certainly was a man who gave his very best in life.

Wonderfully written, moving, and emotionally captivating. As a frequent movie watcher, this was one of the most inspirational movies I've seen in the past 10 years. Ron Howard deserves a gold star for delivering a movie that's genuine, interesting, and heartwarming without the addition of cheap scenes that would have tainted this story line, as so many producers do. And James Braddock just gained another fan.
