James J. Braddock - Guestbook
Welcome to the official guestbook of the James J Braddock website. Due to spam, we have been forced stop guestbook entries.
My wife and I saw the movie last night. For some who do not like movies about boxing, I will tell them that it isnt about boxing, so much as it is about a man who was a boxer. It is a movie about struggles and winning and overcoming all that life can throw at you. It is a fabulous film, so I had to check out any website about this American hero.

I saw the movie Cindarella Man and had previously not known anything about James Braddock. The movie was awesome, I think it was one of the best movies I have ever seen! The movie itself made you feel like you were in every moment with him and his family. It was a terrific story of his life and it made me curious to find out more about him so I took the time to visit this website and it's just interesting to go back in time and it just makes you wonder what times were like back then. So neat!

It really is a shame that the world cannot learn from the values that a man like James Bradock showed us. To do the right thing & never give up if it's the right thing to do.

I had the pleasure of seeing Cinderella Man last night with my fiancee. We were both drained emotionally at the conclusion of this great period movie about a lost art, a good man and a time in American history we all seemed to have forgotten.
The depression era dipicted in this movie is such as I have never witnessed. It made it feel real and poignant. The fight scenes had us jumping out of our seats.
Values, family, strength, opportunityand good ole fashioned Americanism. WOW. A movie everyone should see. Thanks!

My wife and I went to see "Cinderella Man" yesterday with my childhood friend and his wife. Because my friend's dad was a Boston longshoreman many years ago and showed courage like James J. Braddock we certainly identified with the theme of the movie. We cried and cheered for the underdog the entire time.
The movie is great for many reasons the best reason being it teaches one and all to never quit and that courage counts!
Three cheers for a working class hero!

What a wonderful, inspirational story to be told! Mr. Braddock showed his love for his family through his hard work, honesty and integrity and taught us that if you want something badly enough you can achieve anything. This movie is entertaining but as importantly, teaches us many great lessons to live by in our own lives.

My husband and I went to see the movie, I think this is one of the best fight movies ever. I never new of this fighter, but I am glad I do now. I think this movie should win an academy award. But most of all this movie makes people who are down and out see that things can change and James Braddock did it. I don't think because of luck but with his determination and great love for his family and to keep them safe he did what had to be done. He did it with honesty and loyalty and pride. Thank you for a wonderful night of entertainment and a great feeling that left you hope , happines, and and tears of joy. And last it was great to see another great true American Story.

Finally, someone representing the working-class of America and a messenger of hope to tens of thousands of people. His story is that of very few professional athletes...personal integrity and gentlemenly virtue. I was inspired!

I went to the movie because I respect the starring actors' work--not because of Jimmy. I left loving Jimmy and Mae and forgetting all about my favorite actors. I was overawed with Jim's and Mae's loving passion and courage and their undying determination to make not only their own world right and whole again, but also that world called The United States. This was not a boxing move. It was a love story of the purest, deepest kind. I don't know when I have felt more deeply moved;our whole audience leaped from its seat as one and cheered with tears streaming.

Best damned boxing movie ever made. The movie makers did a great job, but the Braddock family did all the work. What a story. No doubt the good Lord shined on James J. Braddock after he tested his metel. Another damn fine Irishman!!!

Now, this is a great story and extremely well told in Cinderella Man, the movie....prompted me to hit the web immediately after seeing it.....A feel good movie about a good person....It's said (Warren Buffett) that one should find 2 things about people you respect and emulate them...well, Mr. Braddock had more than 2 things in one person alone...
Thank you for the site

My wife and I watched the movie this evening and it was great. The story was emotional and really showed how much courage and determination that James Braddock had. He was a great boxer but better yet he was a great father and hero to many.

Went to see this movie tonight. It was most inspirational and ,frankly, quite soul stirring. Being a boxing fan, I had heard quite a bit about your grandfather, but there was so much more to the man than boxing. Kudos to you for an outstanding and informative website.

"Cinderella Man", the story of Mr. Braddock, was an inspiration. It was certainly one of the best movies/stories I have seen in a long time. My late father would have been touched by this movie (he was a product of the Great Depression). I hope more people learn about Mr. Braddock.

My husband and I watched the movie tonight and it was truly an inspirational and touching story to see. As an educator I feel we should make sure that our children watch this movie to understand were Americans came from and how we made this country. It also shows how important values and morals were at that time. Eventhough those were tough times people respected one another and struggled together. We valued our country and our families. James Braddock was all that and more. I enjoyed it so much I would not mind watching this movie ten times more ...that's how GREAT it was!
