James J. Braddock - Guestbook
Welcome to the official guestbook of the James J Braddock website. Due to spam, we have been forced stop guestbook entries.
My husband and I saw this wonderful movie today - June 7th - 2005. Every child in America should see this movie and what it was like to live through the great depression. The guts and determination it took to just stay alive!
God Bless Jim Braddock and his family.

Best movie I have seen in many years. Very inspirational story! James Braddock is a true American hero. They don't make them like him anymore. I have encouraged everybody I know to see the movie...they will not be disapointed! Happy Birthday champ!

After seeing the movie "Seabiscuit" I had thought I had seen the greatest sports story of the depression if not American History. But after seeing "Cinderella Man" (on his 100th birthday) I have to admit that Jim Braddock ranks right up there with the best sports heros that I have ever heard of. Great movie-well done Ron Howard, Russell Crowe and Renee.

I have long had a love for boxing and for movies. After seeing Cinderella Man, I truly have a new hero in James Braddock. This is a story that concentrates more on the human spirit, determination and family. Boxing is almost incidental to this story. I had to visit this site and learn more about this wonderful man and his struggles to keep his family together. As to the movie ,it captures the depression perfectly and the acting of Russell Crowe, Renee Zellwiger and Paul Giammati is superb. It is a must see film, but be sure to take time to learn about James Braddock to appreciate it even more.

We saw the movie and were moved by it. Commitment to family is a rarity these days. Happy 100th B'day to the Bergen Buuldog!

I just saw one of the most heart-warming movies that I have seen. My father used to tell me stories about the old-time champions and Jim Braddock was one of them. Such determination and perseverance. It was an honor to learn more about this man.

Me and my girlfriend went on opening day to see the movie, and I gotta say it was incredible. The movie was definately one of the best boxing movies I have ever seen, but I was wondering how much Hollywood stretched the movie. Did Jimmy really give the money back to that welfare place or whatever, because if he did, and almost all of the stuff is true, he is definately my new favorite boxer. Marciano, Ali, Frasier, Liston and I can keep going, never faced the hardships of Braddock, nor did they do the charity and live a life of such pride as he did. As a rising fighter, I look up to Jimmy, more than any other now after seeing that movie, I almost cried during most of it, I loved it. Good luck to his family, and best wishes to all of them.

I use to sit and listen to my uncle, a former top lightweight and welterweight contender, in awe of the old timers who fought with gutzz and hey get this they even fought in between championship bouts in those days. Thank you for reminding everyone of all that was good in an honest days work Jimmy. Thanx to Ron Howard and the cast of the Cinderella Man. Great movie. Great Man.

I was born in 1935 in Brooklyn. Watching the movie allowed me to realize the living conditions my parents had. It was an amazing movie. Thank you for sharing James' life story with the world.

As a boy growing up in Providence, R.I. I remember my father (who was a fighter trying to earn a living during the depression) often told me stories about Jim Braddock. I saw the movie and although I was only a year old when he beat Max, it brought back many memories of my dad. Thank you for allowing me to wax memoires with this wonderful site.

I didn't realize that Jim Braddock and my dad were born on the same day, June 7, 1905. My Dad went through the depression, had TB and couldn't work and still held his family together. He often talked to me of Braddock (my uncle was a fighter and they both loved the fight game) as the kind of man anyone should want to be. The movie drove that home again. I took my young boys to see it. Hopefully, they grow up to be men like their grandad and the Champ, Jim Braddock

I saw the movie last night and saw my father in Jim Braddock..a hard working, honest, and determined man who loved his family. A good person. A good man that I miss very much. I am sure a lot of people are going to see others in this story and remember the things that made them special. Thank you for giving us a story to identify with and letting others see that a man from modest means can have a big impact on a lot of people for a long time to come.

I saw the movie yesterday. It was actually my brother's birthday.
What an inspirational and amazing man. Not only an inspiration to those trudging through the mudpits of life, but he's also a kind hearted family man. Through this age of divorce and separation, thank you for reminding this country what marriage was really supposed to be. YES, it is amazing to see the loyalty and determination of this strong couple.
I work at a local theatre in San Francisco and I'm recommending every one of the customers who roll in here to see this movie.

What a wonderful inspirational and determined man. My husband and I had the opportunity to see Cinderella Man. Wow, one man to rally the commoners. Truly is inspirational. It was truly beautiful to see a wife support her husband emotionally and to see it returned by her husband. Thank you Ron Howard and Hollywood, but am most thankful to the Braddock Family.

I saw the movie and it was great. I didn't know anything about him until I saw the movie. I was so fascinated by his determination against all odds. I also really admired Mae for her strength and determination and how she stood by him.
