It's so ironic that I am at this site today which would have been Jim's 100th birthday. I was going to see another movie last night but got to the theatre late and had to choose another. I had heard good things about the movie and since I like Russell Crowe and director Ron Howard, I chose Cinderella Man. I didn't know this was a true story until the movie was over and they were telling of what he had gone on to do. I was very impressed with the film and the story. What a feel good story it was, about the life of a man who was truly a hero and inspiration to his family. I needed to find out more about him today and it's his birthday. Happy Birthday Champ!!

I was in awe when it came to the movie and how he did such mighty comebacks in boxing history. This is a very inspirational story to me because it motivates me in a very special way. I like to think of him when it comes to running it gives me strength to go on during a challenging race or just practice.

I'm young and I can't but thanks all the ppl of that time for the great sacrifice they did to bring the world we know today on his feet. Braddock was surely amongs the great man of that time!

Yesterday, the day before Jimmy Braddock's 100th birthday our daughter, Carol Lovejoy, took us to see the Cinderella Man. I did not know what to expect and were we ever surprised to see the best movie that we have ever seen and we are 73 and 70 and have seen a lot of movies. Memories of the days when we were young and our mother was never hungry, due to a lack of food for the family, were brought back by Cinderella Man. I laughed, cried and cheered Jimmy on to his victory over Max Baer. I was told that he died in the end of the movie. What a thrill it was to see him win the World championship. There are now two movies that I will see again--The Passon of Christ and Cinderella Man. Both are movies about truly exceptional MEN! Thank you Ron Howard for a GREAT movie about a GREAT Man. And thank you to our wonderful daughter, Carol, for taking us to see this remarkable man in acton.

What comes to mind after seeing this movie, is how much I would have loved to know this family personally.

I can't wait to see the movie!

Saw the movie lst night, what a great story.Growing up in the 40's&50's I often heard the expression "poor but proud". Jim was certainly the living embodiment of that philosophy. We could use 500 just like him today.

never knew who this man was,I am sorry for that. I looked him up and read everything I could. Its a shame because the writing does not do this man justice.

WOW!! Seeing the movie Saturday night was thrilling and heartwarming. It really came to life for me when I rummaged through my late father-in-laws magazine collection and found origianl copies of Ring Magazine that told the incredible story of James Braddock, complete with photos of the Baer and Lewis fights. The stories re-capped what we saw at the movies and really made Mr. Braddock's life special to me. Bravo to a great American and thanks to a family for sharing.

I'm honored to discover that Jim Braddock and I share the same birthday (albeit 50 years apart).
People like him are what made this country what it is today. Truly inspiring!!

This man's character went right to his Soul. Gone are the days when a boxer thinks of what is most important when he fights, his family. I am impressed that Ron Howard has again shared the POWER of a truly great person to the world as he did with Ladder 49.
This is the BEST boxing movie I have ever enjoyed and Happy 100th Birthday James R Braddock..you are a true hero.

Long before "Rocky" there was James Braddock..........He could teach us all lessons in life......
Greg Mcgregor - Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada [2005-06-07 03:22:53]
Greg from Sarasota summed it up perfectly. Crowe, Zellwenger, Giamatti, Ron Howard -- all have done a service to bring this story to light. But the man who lived it has it all -- integrity, heart and perseverence. What an inspiration!! Movies like this don't come our way often enough.

I just saw the movie no more than an hour and a half ago. It was truly inspirational and a great movie. For this to have actually happened gives people like me a great inspiration to thrive and to overcome any obstacle in our lives. I find it somewhat ironic that this fight took place on the same day that i ship for Marine boot camp. June 13th, the only difference is that its 70 years later. And also i find ironic that i found this website on his 100th birthday. It maybe a sign telling me that i will make it, or just coincidence. Happy Birthday champ. You're an inspiration to all, especially to me.
God Bless
