James J. Braddock - Guestbook
Welcome to the official guestbook of the James J Braddock website. Due to spam, we have been forced stop guestbook entries.
I knew when I saw the previews that it would be a good production, but didn't expect the human depths that the movie would touch in me. Some of us who are low on money now, and unemployed, find themselves in it. That cute little red-headed kid Ronnie Howard sure can direct! And ALL the actors did a great job, too. Five thumbs up! Oscar!

We vacationed with another couple in Palm Springs this past weekend and the weather was in the high 90's. We went into the theater to stay cool for awhile. I had heard a lot about Cinderella Man and suggested we see it. Our friends hadn't heard much about the movie. After watching it and wishing it would never end, we left the theater feeling uplifted and full of hope for the future. What an inspiration Jimmy Braddock is to all who learn his life story. I then returned today with my parents to let them see the movie. My parents were born in 1932 and 1934; Ron Howard is such a wonderful Director and my parents were laughing, crying and cheering. My Dad grew up in New Jersey and he made several comments; that is how we grew up in the days of the depression. Thanks to the Braddock's and thanks Ronnie for giving America this wonderful story.

Just saw the movie last night. What a great movie and story. This is such a great story of a mans love for his family. The movie put me on the edge of my seat. Great job of movie making it should win many awards.

we saw the movie over the weekend and were deeply moved. I think the story is inspirational on a number of fronts, especially for all those facing tough odds at work or at home.
in my mind, this movie rockets past all the other boxing movies of the past 30 years.
1) cinderella man
2) million dollar baby
3) the boxer
4) raging bull
5) rocky
cudos to all involved, especially the braddock family for sharing such an personal and inspirational story.

I was greatly impressed by the movie Cinderella Man. He was a great family man, husband and had the heart of a champion. The values portrayed in this movie, set a great example of no matter what obstacles he faced, he never lost sight of his devotion to his wife and family. He was indeed principled. To bad this example has not carried over to our politicians and heads of government . He indeed was a true champion, not only in boxing but in life.

My husband and I just saw "Cinderella Man" this weekend. I have to say like many others, this has been one of the best boxing movies ever made so far. Braddock was a great fighter but even more, a better Father! We as Americans must be grateful for what we have. God bless his legacy and family.

I was so impressed with the movie Cinderella Man, that I had to learn more about James. He was a 'stand up' gentleman. Thank you for allowing me into your lives.

I saw "Cinderella Man" this past weekend and found the movie absolutely engrossing and inspiring. I found this website looking for more information on Braddock. He was a man of character, compassion, and determination that merits the recognition he receives because of the film. As someone born several generations after Braddock's career, I'm glad I've now had a chance to appreciate him, too.

I just finished watching the film "Cinderella Man" and found this website searching for more information on James Braddock. "Cinderella Man" is one of the best films I have seen in years and Russell Crowe should win another Oscar for this one! The movie was emotionally wrenching and so well acted! The period was captured perfectly by Ron Howard and his team and you felt for the young family as they struggled during the depression. This a a great site! I never knew of James Braddock until after I watched the movie and now I want to know all about him! What a wonderful story!

Once again Ron Howard has amaized us all with this wonderful, heart warming story of a true and honest hero James J. Braddock. This is by far the best movie I have seen in along time. My parents grew up in the depression and stories of them eating fried bologna brought memories of how hard times really were during the depression. To the entire Braddock family, Ron Howard, and cast thank-you for making a movie that brings tears to the eyes of not only woman but also grown men and for making it worth the while to once again enjoy going to the movies and coming out with great pride of being an American and saying to yourself that is what makes a great movie when it touches you deep in your heart.

We saw "Cinderella Man" the other night and can't stop thinking about Mr Braddock.
What a wonderful, loving man he was.
I think today's atheletes could not do any better than to model themselves after him. True, he was a superior athelete, but more importantly, he was a wonderful man, husband, father and human being.
He is really worthy of hero worship, unlike the highly paid, disrespectful sports superstars we are familiar with today.
It is unfortunate that we didn't know him.

Just saw the move...truly great. I was born in 1932, Brooklyn, NY and heard about Braddock from my Father and others. What they told me many, many years ago was played out in a wonderful movie. The Depression Years were beautifully depicted. Thanks Ron Howard & Braddock Family

I am like a lot of people that just saw the movie and loved it. I had heard of Mr Braddock before but didn't truely understand him or the trials he faced. True stories like this show the human spirit is capable of great things. It does sadden me that this time period (at least here in Canada) is all but glossed over. I'm not saying we should learn the history of boxing during the 30's, but stories like this or even Seabiscuit can and should at least be used to show what that time was like and how oridinary people did extraordinary things.
Fantastic website as well.

I saw the movie last night with my friend, and i am still amazed how good ron howard created this movie. He brought it all out an dto show what the family really went though in a time like that. It really shows how much people did to suppurt thier family in a time like that. he risked his own life when he went out there agesnt max to over come him and win the chapionship. I think it is one of the most wonderful movies of all time.

Cinderella Man is the most inspirational movie I have ever seen. James Braddock was truly a man of integrity and honor, qualities sorely lacking in society today. Compare the millions of "victims" in American society today who'd rather pop a pill to avoid life to what Braddock had to face, and what he overcame by sheer guts and determination and you'll see what I mean. Awesome story, awesome script, awesome acting! - I must have said 'WOW' 100 times after I left the theatre.

excellent movie, but it best illustrates the condition of America in the depression years. Those of us born, as I was in the early 40's are truly living in the best of ages. Jim Braddock spanned the years that my Father lived in and was part of the Greatest Generation. We owe Mr. Braddock and that Generation our World today. Lets not mess it up too much.

My Grandfather, Bill (Rocky) Marshall was a huge fan and a friend of Jimmy Braddock. Grandpa used to put on CYO boxing shows in Rockland County, NY and Jimmy would come to see them every year. I heard a lot about him growing up. After seeing Cinderella Man, I can understand why my Grandfather respected Jimmy so much--they were two of a kind!

Wow! My wife and I just saw the movie and what an incredible story. I expected to see a movie about a fighter and instead I got a reminder about what really matters in life. It's okay to get knocked down as long as you keep getting up!

I just saw the movie last night with my girlfriend and it was amazing. It was one of the best movies I have ever seen, and beautifully done. Probably the most inspiring sports movie ever. James J. Braddock was quite a courageous man, especially during that difficult time period in our nations history. I sure hope that the story was told as accurate as possible...

My dad gave me a love for boxing and how I miss the days of undisputed champions and champions who, while not perfect, certainly carried more integrity than we are accustomed to seeing.
He spoke of Braddock but I was young and, like most young folks, didn't listen much. I am greatful to be reminded of what he was trying to tell me. Braddock shocked the world and gave belief to the common man at a time when belief was needed most.
I often wonder, does God really care who wins or loses? I think He lets things play out as they do which is why the good guy does NOT always win. But Braddock's life, as dramatized in this great film, makes me think...maybe, just sometimes, He does care when the time is right and it's needed most.
Whatever the answer, thanks to the Braddock family for sharing this website and making us all a part of their family history.
James J. Braddock...what a foundation for future generations of that family.

Great Story! Very Inspirational! I am a chaplain at a residential treatment center for at risk teens. I am recommending they see this movie. James Braddock is a role model of integrity, and family unity even during difficult times. Thanks for sharing his story.
