Does anyone know where the Braddock family is from in Ireland?
Colm Campbell - Belfast, Ulster Ireland [2005-06-06 15:01:09]
I Sobbed during the movie. I just cannot accept that I would be so poor that I would have to think of maybe giving up my kids for whatever reason.. I think that for me it was the most Awesome movie that I have seen. I am not a Boxing fan, but when I saw the trailers on this film, I knew that I would have to see it. I saw it twice this past weekend, and I will see it again with my Husband. Movies sometimes only catch a small slice of the person, but in this one Wow..What a awesome man...That generation sets the stage for all of use to follow gladly....

We both saw the movie this past weekend and I must say what an inspirational movie. It was much more than just about boxing. It was the love for his family, the courage and determination to provide for his family that was really what this movie was all about. They faced great adversity yet they never gave up. What an honour it would have been to have known Mr. Braddock. He lives on in this movie and should be an inspiration to commitment of family that we no longer have today. I am glad that his life has been portrayed, otherwise, we would have never known what a remarkable hero he truly was. You are truly blessed to have had him in your lives. Thank you for sharing this amazing story with us.

Jimmy Braddock was a true inspiration!

I was most inspired by Mae, Jim's wife. I am in the same situation about supporting my husband with his reporting career. It is a very hard life and little money at first, but I see how a woman supporting her husband can do. the movie shows a lot of heart, love and support. beautiful story

I had never heard of James Braddock until I went to the film last Friday. What an INSPIRATIONAL and MOVING story!!! At the end of the film (and even during it) there was applause from the crowd. On leaving, I heard more than one man say that there were times during the film when tears welled up in their eyes. I can attest to that fact! A great story about a great, great man. Thank you!
Steve Novak - Washington, Dc USA [2005-06-06 12:33:05]

My husband and I saw the movie recently and were enthralled. We both grew up in West New York and knew some of the stories and that Hudson County Park was named after him. What a great and profound story of a man with such integrity who withstood the toughest of times and was determined to keep his family together. It also made us so proud to know that such a man hailed from good old West New York, Hooray, for the Bergen Bulldog! What a great incentive to all of us to always keep hope alive. You and your family have so much to be thankful for. Thanks to Ron Howard for putting this wonderful story to the screen for all to enjoy. Nancy Signa Wardell

I just want to say that that movie is one of the best I've ever see. It made me see that no matter what you've got to fight for what you want and believe. I'am so happy that James family help make it possible and I think Hollywood did a good job too.

I get fed up with people going on about who was the greatest, fighter or sportsman.James was the greatest at that moment in time,a great human being and a great fighter, but time moves on and others arrive and then go and life continues

My wife and I saw Cinderella Man last evening. What a great movie. Being in our early 40's, we both agreed how nice it was to see a movie that emphasized hard work, commitment, honor, doing your best, and not giving up. What an inspiration it was to see something come out of Hollywood that insitlled traditional values that made that generation and this country so great. We only pray that our or the generations to come will not have to endure hard times such as that in the Great Depression. It's truly amazing how so many lived through that. Ron Howard and his cast should get best picture and Renee Z. was so impressive in her role as was Russell C. This movie has made my wife and I really reflect on how blessed we are. Thanks for waking us up.

A truly inspirational story. I would like to thank the Braddock family for allowing the story to be told both on the big screen and the book by Jeremy Schaap. A great role model for families today and for future generations.

I saw the movie on sunday, june 5, 2005. I have heard about joe
louis before. however, it is an honor to know more about james Braddock as an individual, a dedicated father, a good husband, and a great provider with humility, integrity, determination, guts, tenacity and a supreme sense of
responsibility. it is hard to find an
individual with such personal qualities today. it is an honor for
howard to produce such a great movie to show James Braddock's
life during the depression. He showed us what should our proiority be--our family. I have seen the devastating impacts of
pending divorce on children around my neighbor. Msay god bless the
braddock family for years to come.
sincerely yours paul
