James J. Braddock - Guestbook
Welcome to the official guestbook of the James J Braddock website. Due to spam, we have been forced stop guestbook entries.
What a great movie. My wife and I bobbed and weaved in our seats. I found Jim Braddock's sense of family so inspiring. What an impact this movie has had for me as an insperation of what I as a Dad should always be striving for.
Ron Howard and Russel Crow have hit a home run. Lets see what happens at Oscar time. Can't wait for the DVD

We saw the film today and though I am 58 I do remember the name and watched the old fights on tv as a kid or read of them in Ring magazine.
James brought some class to the profession and touched the sense of honor ,courage and glory it takes to be a fighter as well as a loving family man and husband. After all of these years it is a pleasure to know that his story will and does still inspire the best in all of us who must fight our own battles in the ring of life. Thanks Jim. We know your rooting for us.

My husband and I went to see the movie today. I wanted to see it, he didn't (he is not a fan of boxing). This movie was SO MUCH more spectacular than I could have even imagined. I, and my husband, cried almost through the entire thing. EXCEPTIONAL! And the movie really gave all of us a deeper understanding for what the people of the depression went through. As we were leaving the theater, my husband said that he thought "that was the BEST movie that I have ever seen". I was extremely happy, as I feel the same way. I can't wait for it to come out on DVD so that I can buy it! Way to go cast and crew!

Thank you for bringing James J. Braddock's story to the people (once again). He inspired millions during the Great Depression, and now the life of this good and courageous man will inspire millions more. Today we need examples like his more than ever. I saw Ron Howard's film today, and it is easily his best directing effort - and possibly the best boxing film I have ever seen. But the film is really about hope and courage through dark times, the transforming power of love, and family. It is about second chances and fighting for what is truly important, (far more than fame or glory). The message: you may be down for whatever reason, but don't count yourself out. Luck can change. You CAN do it. And the values: Believe in yourself, and in others. Love and cherish your family. Be honest and do the right thing. So I just want to say thank you to the Braddock family, and to Mr. Howard, for giving us this story, and this film. I absolutely loved it - and I really needed it's message right now - I'm sure most who see this film will feel the same. These are confusing, disillusioning times, and a powerful example like James Braddock's is as compelling now as it was during the Depression. He was a courageous champion, but more: a good and decent man, husband and father. THAT is a real hero, not just for his time, but for any time.

My wife and I came from viewing the movie today with tears in our eyes, but joy in our hearts. What a beautiful movie to show how adversity can, and indeed does, build character.
We are so soft today. How many of us would respond with the courage and tenacity that James J. Braddock, and his wife, showed?
The hard and cruel crucible of the Great Depression forged the courage and convictions the "Greatest Generation" would need to defeat the Nazis and the Japanese. You cannot help but believe James Braddock inspired some of that spirit.
Finally, in a age and time of spoiled and badly behaved sports "heros", James Braddock's contributions to his family and community during and after his career showed just how deep goodness and decency ran in this exceptional and incredible human being.
My grandchildren will find this on their "required viewing list, along with BraveHeart, The Cowboys, and The Patriot.
God bless and keep you in His bosom always James Braddock.

Braddock was a bum who got lucky. The Brown Bomber exposed him.

Usually I don't have much to say about movies , This movie Cinderella Man by Ron Howard starring Russell Crowe, Rene Zellweger is the exception. Take at least three boxes of kleenex. I didn't want to go, I thought ugh boxing. The fight scenes are pretty darn realistic but the story of the man James j Braddock has left me deeply impressed. This is a true story of a real American Hero. You will laugh, cry and come home with a new knowledge deep in your soul that you have witnessed a true love story. This is what it is all about kiddys, this is the real deal. As far as I am concerned he has won the oscar, he has left his handprint on my heart..........

We saw the movie yesterday when it opened and glad Ron Howard was able to produce a great movie to tell the world about James J. Braddock because we never heard of JJB since we weren't even born yet. Your grandfather was a true inspiration to the nation during The Great Depression and now in every day life...to place God and family first in our daily lives. May I suggest you add captions to all your photos in the photo gallery. Many thanks and God Bless You All!

What a beautiful movie! I felt I was one of the people in the Bergen County, praying for his safety and victory, if possible! So wanted him to survive the fight, and return to home to his family. The movie shows that motivation driven by true, righteous reasons can achieve incrdible results!
Ron Howard, Russell Crowe you are such a combination together. One of the best movies I have seen in the past few years(the last one was ofcourse-- beautiful mind).

I can remember my grandfather talking about the fight when I was little. Both Dad and Grampa were golden gloves. I remember my Dad teaching me the bop bop bam punches on his hands when I was a little girl, too. We just saw the movie and I couldn't wait to get home to read about the man. He was honorable and genuine. He loved his family and his country and that is forever. Thank you for sharing your Dad with us.

WOW! What an incredible movie! This is easily the best movie i have seen in a long time. I, like many others had to try to find out more info on Mr. Braddock and was so pleased to find out that the movie stayed true to what actually happened in Mr. Braddock's life. He was an incredible man! I only wish there were more like him around today. Thank you for sharing this website with the rest of us. It is so refreshing to hear about a man who's family was more important to him than anything.

Wonderful, uplifting movie without a bunch of gratuitous sex and profanity... and about a man and his family who were even more wonderful. Well done, God Bless.

My wife and I saw the movie today and were very inspired by Mr. Braddock's story of survival and glorious come back. He certainly was a true hero of the time. It was also nice to come home and read that Max Baer was not the horrible person portrayed in the movie, that he even helped put the children of Frankie Campbell through college.

Mr. Braddock is a true hero. You must feel so proud to have had him for a father and grandfather. I am truly blessed because he reminds me so much of my father and husband. Family is everything.
