Hi
I, like I'm sure many only vaguely knew the name. Sitting here now, watching the film I find the story compelling and inspirational.

Hi
Like many people I was vaguely aware of James Braddock but until I watched the film “Cinderella Man” I had little or no idea of his struggle to raise his family or his difficult rise to the top of his career. It was that film which prompted me to research further about his story and led me to this website.
James Braddock was without doubt a truly amazing example of a man who became not only a legend but a man whose story will be talked about forever and a man who remains an example to us all.
He gave many hope and courage when there was little for anyone during the great depression and I’m sure his story will never be forgotten!

My mother is from South Amreica she came to USA when she was only 16 yrs old.I was born in NY and was raised in California,I can relate to Jimmy's story,I wish i were strong and determind as he was at fullfiling his dreams.I truly admire him,and strongly believe he loved his family and put them first.I have a daughter now she is 2 yrs old,and for her i would do anything, even go a few rounds in the ring.Thank you James for a wonderful tale to tell my children, you are a hero. And I thank his family for keeping his dream alive.

Hi
I saw the movie yesterday and was really thrilled to watch it. and like everyone else was inquisitive about James Braddock and Max Baers which brought me to this website.
I am very inpired by the life and courage of james Braddock. But i figured after reading online for a day that story in movie wasnt a clear depiction.
First of all was the part of Max Baers where he was shown very unlike his character. Alrite he was frivolous and merry maker, but a killer he was not. yeah one person died but that dented his life as well. He lost 6 fights after that bearing the trauma of that fight in his mind. He never really wanted to be a boxer as his grandson has said and wanted to be an actor rather.
Anyhow that doesnt reduce any level of respect that the Cinderella Man commands..
But i have 2-3 questions in my mind which if any one of you who has read more about it can answer, I will be glad to listen from any of you.
Why was the fight between James Braddock and schmeling cancelled?
What were the reasons that made Braddock retire after his successful bout against Jamie Farr which was unlike his character?
And how did he make $300000 from the fight where he lost to Joe Louis?
The source of these questions cant be put but info is available on the net.

My Dad was born nine years before Jimmy in New York State. He was an orphan almost from the beginning and had a rough childhood. He was always quick with his fists and somehow got his wife and three kids through the Depression. Dempsey was his fight hero but after Jack, it was Jimmy Braddock.

One of the greatest stories ever told and lived! James J. Braddock changed the hrearts of millions with his courage to succeed in such bad conditions. Every year I see students watching the movie, it amazes me that they don't end it there. Students often come in the next day and share information on the characters of this time, some from this website! Hope all who hear the story realize the amount of heart this one man had.

I really respect James Braddock
as a human being, a family man,
and as a professional boxer. I
really enjoyed the movie the
producers couldn't picked a better actor than Russell Crow
and, Renee Zellweger they
both were outstanding. I have
one question about the movie
the real crazy guy that killed
two people in the ring by
knocking there brains a loose
is that part of the movie really
really true, I hope not anyway
I really enjoyed learning about
such a great man Thank you.

I'm not sure how much of the movie was true and how much was hollywood. If half of its true, both Jimmy and his wife were remarkable people. A real inspiration. Not many people in history personally accomplished what this man accomplished.

Hello,
the played the movie yesterday on German Television ,,the cinderella Man''. What a impressive story, I looked it up in Wikipedia and came to this Site.
The Biography of Mr Braddock is one that gives you inspiration in a Time not so different as the 1920's (1929).
Glad that I found this Site, and I'm very happy to learn about the Life of Mr Braddock.
Thanks for this Site!

I show "Cinderella Man" to my 11th grade US History classes every year when covering the Great Depression. It is a great lesson on life during the depression and the dedication, hard work, and never give up attitude of many during that era. I love the story and when we are done my students love it too. God Bless James J. Braddock.

WOW! My wife and I just watched Cinderella man tonight. It was a wonderful movie about a man of courage and honor! My wife was jumping up and down in the living room cheering for Braddock like a crazied fan!! I never saw her get so physical about a movie. She doesnt even jump up for the door bell!!We enjoyed this movie very much. What a awesome guy he was! The fights scenes were awesome and the cast did a splendid job! Plus, now my wife said "they were so in love and kissed all the time, so we need to do that more" ( which i dont mind), so all in all Mr and Mrs Braddock are in heaven but still move the people right here on earth!! How cool is that. God bless you for keeping this site up.It was a nice touch to read this after the movie.

I just watched the movie and didn't realize it was a true story, which are the type of movies I like best. What a fantastic story about a terrific family man. Times are tough now and James Braddock remains a "Big Time" inspiration. He never gave up!!
