My dad and my uncle used to box, only amateur though. We had Golden Gloves in Indiana in the 1970's and 80's. They both said that boxing was one of their best memories. In fact, before my uncle died in 2003, he told me "keep your hands up and your eyes open because you never who's swinging." I 'll never forget that. I guess, in a way boxing can teach you about real life. I would love to pusue a career in female boxing, but in Indiana you can't find a fight. I'm ready and I have been listening to everything that my uncle told and that my dad tells me, but nobody will fight a girl in Indiana. I guess that I'll just remember the dreams of my uncle and try to show my dad that I can do it. I will do it someday.

mY FATHER WAS BORN IN 1922 SO HE TOO GREW UP THROUGH THE GREAT DEPRESSION OF THE 30,S. BUT LIKE MOST MEN OF THAT TIME HE,S FAVORITE SPORT WAS BOXING. I GREW UP WITH ALL THOSE GREAT NAMES RINGING IN MY EAR, BUT THE NAME BRADDOCK STAYED IN MY HEAD FOR ONE MAIN REASON, MY FATHER WAS WELSH, AND WAS A GREAT TOMMY FARR FAN, COMING FROM THE SAME TOWN AS MY FATHER DID, SWANSEA.FARR FOUGHT BRADDOCK IN 1938 BUT LOST ON POINTS OVER 10 ROUNDS, BUT PUT UP A GREAT FIGHT, HE ALSO WENT ON TO FIGHT THE GREAT BROWN BOMBER FOR THE WORLD TITLE, BUT LOST ON POINTS OVER 15 ROUNDS, MY DAD WOUL LOVE TO BE SITTING IN FRONT OF THIS PC LOOKING AT ALL THIS BOXING INFO, IT WOULD BRING BACK SO MANY GREAT MEMEORIES FOR HIM .

I have to say that this is one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen. I just moved to this country and just recently visited Ellis Island, discovering a lot of memories regarding immigration and difficulties that people had back then (both immigrants and US citizens because of the lack of work, food). It really touched me. This amazing story is a great opportunity to remind us of those not just here but in many other countries who are unemployed, hungry, with no opportunities, that are living a situation just like in those depression years. And also to understand much more the meaning of hard work, love, hope, family, friendship, compassion, patience, faith, those things that kept those people up, together and alive. And I hope we could all pick up those values for ourselves.

Loved the movie. I tell my kids it is not what you have that matters but the kind of person you are. In the end, we are all remembered by who we touch, and it seems James J. Braddock touched a lot of people.

The best thing about Jim Braddock is his family ties,so rare now-a-days.Here is the man who fought against tremendous odds.I like the way Jimmy faces the fear...staring right at its eyes(when he says to repeat the projectos show about the killing by Baer). He is a great source of inspiration to all of us. I thank Braddock family for creating this website.

I watch the movie over and over. Mr. Braddock was a true hero. I had two brothers that were boxers, golden gloves, so I can relate to Mr. Braddock's family life. God Bless.

One of the greatest movies about the great depression and how a greater person survived and raised up to meet the challanges of that time in history.
The Max Baer fight sends chills down my spine!

Just watched the film for the first time myself and i had not actually heard of James J Braddock...but when the film came out here and they mentioned the 'Braddock' name, i was a little amazed that i have the same surname as himself! I have to say though that he is a legend in his own right...and did amazingly well during the depression the USA had. The film is seemed to portray him very well and was a great film to watch.

Thank you for finding the right group of people to tell this story. I was very encouraged by the poignance of the times. I am reminded to be greatful by a man who fought for milk, loved his wife and kids, and remained honest and true throughout. Thank you again for continuing to tell this story.

Just watched the movie. What a great story. My dad would have loved it since he would have been a young man at the time and would love to reminisce about the old boxing days.

To say the least, the film is an inspiration for anyone in any situation. I'm 55 and from Barrington, NJ. My 89 year old mother just recently watched the movie and she immediately recalled her memories when Jimmy Braddock was in the ring. It was nice to relive those memories with her. She came from a family of 14 of Irish descent and related of course to the hardships of the depression and the sometimes particular prejudices against Irish Catholics at the time.
