What a great movie about a very good man. I have watched it many times and think of my Father and what he went through during the great depression. We all owe our heritage to those who came before us. What a class man, a class fighter, and above all else a family man.

I love this movie and watch it everytime it is on HBO. I am watching it now. One of my favorite parts of the movie is where Jame's wife says, you are the champion of my heart. I wish there were more men, and also more women like her around today.

I first saw this movie about 6 months ago and now it's on HBO and I watch it everytime I happen to channel over to it no matter where it is in the movie. This movie makes me laugh, cry with pride and joy and makes me wish that there were more role models around like James to emulate. What a great movie and a great man.

My wife and I watched "Cinderella Man" last night. This movie so intrigued me that I had to do a search on Mr. Braddock on the internet. What an incredible story of human willpower, guts and determination! I am extremely proud of this man; not only for what he accomplished in the face of unfavorable odds, but more so, why he accomplished these near impossible challenges. The one part of this movie that sticks with me is his interview before the Baer fight where he reveals that his motivation was "milk". I'm a retired US Marine, and this man's spirit and dedication, to provide for those he loved by any means, is inspiring! I am in awe of this man, and I believe that, as this kind of man still exists today, he is far fewer in numbers as in those times.
Semper Fidelis, Mr. Braddock!

What a wonderful gift from Ron Howard, his cast, crew and fellow producers. He exhibits the spirit of entertainment that Jim Braddock was a part of -- the array of entertainment that was such part of lightening spirits of downcast peoples of the Depression. Howard has successfully juxtaposed the social challenges of the day with the qualities of a gentle family man summed up as dutly, courage and perseverance. His image became a focal point for people to gather their own qualities to face and surmount devastating hardship -- then, the Depression, but soon, without pausing, World War II. So much of the confidence he inspired was due to showing that soft virtues of devotion, generosity, morality, and courtesy need not be discarded, but have a role when a person adopts violent action when it is among his resources, and the need is inescapable. Braddock was one of a line of such role models in his sport who influenced us: Joe Louis, Gene Tunnney, Ray Robinson, and before them, Gentleman Jim Corbett and the Marquis of Queensbury himself. The culture of this country, and of Boxing, has moved on, no longer a prominent high school and college sport, and damned by antiheroes of the '80s and '90s. Dirty tricks were obviously not missing in Braddock's era, but even Max Baer was not Mike Tyson. Where do our people look today for the qualities I listed above. Do we have real life role models in the Braddock mold?

Great web site to honor a great man. Great in ways that matter, perserverance, determination, desire to better himself without taking advantage of others...and Champion of the World. We could use more like him.

Excellent film, if Jim Braddock was only half the man portrayed in the film he must have been immense in life. Did he really give the Government money back as shown in the film?
