Just finished watching the movie, "Cinderella Man" and had to learn more about this great boxer. It is a great biography and the best boxing movie I have seen. Great website; I'll have to see the movie again!

I watch Cinderella Man most everytime that it is shown on HBO. My husband decided to watch it with me last week and we were both moved by the honesty and courage of James Braddock. To live in the Depression and to be so true to oneself and family is commendable. To know what you are fighting for and how truly important it is. Thank-you for allowing us to enjoy your grandfathers story.

I am like so many others, just saw the movie and was inspired to learn more about the actual man. I think it is wonderful that his grandson maintains this site. I thank you for sharing the photos. My grandparents raised their children in the depression. They and my parents are all gone now. But Jame Braddock's story reminds us all of what life was like. It is important to respect that legacy.

I remember reading about Mr. Braddock as youngster, as I was interested in all sports history and lore.
It is obvious now, that I did not understand the man, or what he meant to so many, until seeing the movie Cinderella Man. Still a boxing fan today, this movie was better than most fights nowadays, wonderful portrayal of the man, and incredible boxing scenes. By far the best boxing/life movie I have ever seen. My wife enjoyed it as well. Thank you to his family for maintaining this wonderful site, and sharing Mr. Braddock with those of us who never knew him. Kudos!

I just saw the movie Cinderella Man today and regret that it too me so long to enjoy this fabulous film. This story of a man who fought for his family and his people, reminded me so much of my father. He was another Irishman who thought of his family first and sacrificed so much for us although it was years before I realized how much. For my father and your grandfather and all the other fathers like Jim Braddock, thank you for keeping their legacies alive.

James J. Braddock, the name itself has some grand feeling of toughness and inner fortitude, after seeing the movie and reading about this extrordinary man I see he was far more then a boxer, he was a great MAN, a great father and someone that never ever gave up. God sends special people to this world all the time, but very few make the effort to bring their talents to bear in a way that affects the world. James J. Braddock was that sort of man. Your family should be proud and honered to have him as an ancestor. I know I would be. Thank you for keeping the light of his spirit alive. I am a better man for it.

I am interesting to know why James was called as a cinderella man. The first time I heard that nick when I read about fight of Clinton Woods. I am impressed on the history of James life and fight. Thanks to the people who created and keep this web site.

Mr. Braddock was a hero to me long before his story was told in film. I fondly recall my Grandfather Tech. Sgt. R. Grant VanOrsdol recounting his time listening to Mr. Braddock fight by radio-side. The interesting heart of the story here is that my Grandfather was a deep blue hero in World War II, heavily decorated, but more importantly he kept as many men alive as he could do as one man. A battle worn hero who honored an inspirational hero, a true American story.

P.S.: The site should offer a t-shirt that read "Will fight for Milk" - or Food

Cinderella Man-what a wonderful tribute to a wonderful man. My Pop-pop(who passed of cancer 8 years ago this September) was a boxer in the army (WWII) and a huge boxing fan...I can see why he loved the sport so much after watching this movie.

Cinderella Man was the first film I had ever seen featuring Russell Crowe. I am not a boxing fan, but this film was sensitive and inspirational. The honesty of Mr. Crowe's interpretation lended it's depth. I wish there were more films like this that promoted good virtues that would inspire. I think that is what we want inside.
I think boxing is okay now and have bought the DVD!!

I was moved to tears over this inspiring story of a boxer with a spirit larger than his own physicality. -My cousin, Johnny Kalbhenn, also helped to correograph the boxing scenes (and was in the opponent's corner). I was in awe over the authenticity of the boxing scenes (bravo John!) and moreover, the spirit of a great man!
James Braddock's grandchildren must be so proud!

I saw "Cinderella Man" on HBO and didn't know how good it would be. I just hoped that it wouldn't be another lame boxing movie, and boy was I impressed, So much that I went out later that week and bought the DVD. James J. Braddock is one of the greatest men who ever boxed or should I say lived. We need more role models like him today in our world of corrupt ; not only did he give hope and inspiration to people of his time , but to people of this generation. I really hope people like him continue to do what they do and give people like myself hope and inspiration.

Ps. Great job on web page really nice.

No matter how tough it seems to make a living today, nothing can compare to the days of the Great Depression. This movie and the portrayal of James J. Braddock provides us all with lessons regarding hope, courage and perserverance. This movie and the story it tells has affected my life and certain difficulties I am facing. It has given me hope, courage and strength. May God bless all of you and may Jim and Mae rest in peace.

This is a great website in honor of a wonderful man. I cannot even imagine living during his time, let alone staying so completely honest throughout it all. It's too bad more people aren't like him today. We would probably live in a much better world.
