I recently saw the movie for the first time and I was truely moved. He sounds like he was a great inspiration to not only his generation, but a definition of the true American spirit. I am honored to know his story.

To the Braddock Family:
How proud you must be of this wonderful man. I finally got around to watching the movie; wish I'd seen it sooner. What an inspiration. I'm 55 years old, but my Mom and Dad lived through the Great Depression. My Dad was Golden Gloves and boxed in the military during WWII. I was aware
of Mr. Braddock through Dad. How he handled adversity and success should be an example to us all. Given what he had to overcome during his life made me know that I have no problems at all.
I just wish there were more of his kind around today.

Just saw the movie on dvd... moving story, great cinema. What an inspiration Mr Braddock was to his family, friends and his many followers of all ages during what my parents used to tell me were hard times.

I have only just got round to watching the movie, but i regretfully should have watched it much sooner. James J is exactly the role model that all living men should follow. People say that i inspire them whoever i feel kinda silly now after seeing such a legend in his field and beyond. Thanks to Russell and ron for bring ing the magic to the screen. A true legend. God bless you! Becks x

My Father Eugene Lippi boxed for St. Peter's in Jersey City and tells me stories of the great fighters from the NYC area in the thirties. He is dying to see the movie "Cinderella Man" because he stresses that Braddock came from nowhere to skockingly win the title. They used to talk about the great fighters in my Grandpa's fishmarket in Union City and Braddock's name was always mentioned. He just left but I'll tellhim about this website!

In St. Louis for some years now, I was born and raised in Jersey City. From when I was a child I vividly recall my Dad and uncles telling of their listening avidly to radio broadcasts and poring over newspaper accounts of your Grandfather's bouts: they held James J. Braddock in great esteem - the kind of guy who made them proud to be Americans, New Jerseyans and, during WWII, your Grandpa's distant comrades-in-arms. Cinematically, Ron Howard's film is a perfect movie; but most of all I'd like to thank you for your hard work on this website which is, I feel , a lovely tribute to your worthily eminent Grandfather as well as to your dear Grandmother.

How proud you must be of James J. Braddock! He was such a brave and honest man...a true Christian. The movie introduced me to this fine man and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Our family, wife Adrienne, sons Jarrett (11) and Troy (9) were riveted to this storyline. At first the boys did not want to watch this boring movie and by the end they did not miss a beat. This story was very educational to all of us as adults we also experienced a closer look at the Depression along with the trials of James and his family.
Well Done!

Very inspiring, life size American folk hero...a true over comer in epic proportions. A great mentoring tool to young men on the qualities of family and personal responsibility.

I watched the movie last night for the first time and truly believe that your grandfather was a very great man. He showed great bravery and compassion and loyalty.

My family saw the picture last night. We were all moved- A great man, an inspiring human drama, an an unnerving will to succeed. A true American story. Why cant athletes today be like that? A very respectful man, who clearly knew right from wrong. God bless him, his family and all those lifes he has touched. Amen!

Mr. Braddock was a gentle loving man who had good morals and a passion for doing his job to the best of his ability, he kept his temper in check and fought smart.

Cinderella Man revealed a great story of a great man. It is good that James J. Braddock's story could be told in the same way as the Hurricane and Ali and that they all get some of the recognition that they deserve.

10 of us watched the movie last night and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Your father obviously cared very much for his family. You should be very proud.

What a story! What a man! A great portrayal of honesty, integrity, and work ethic . . . should be required curriculum for today's athletes.

What a awsome movie, I am not one for watching boxing. This movie inspired me. What a man would do for his family in such hard times.
