Very inspiring man, watching the movie give me inspiration to be a good man, just like him. He is a portrait of a boxer who is also a good man.

Never much of a boxing follower. However, this was truly a great movie portraying a true story about a man who believed in himself and his family as well as his country. Sure wish athletes of today felt that way.

no doubt that Braddock is an inspirational man. He seems to fight for his family. He has a lot of courage for facing Max Baer. The movie was... well there's no word that can describe Cinderella Man, not even Sensational. I'm sure many people in the world will be inspired by this movie, like saying there is always hope and to never give up no matter the odds.

I just finished watching Cinderella Man. What a beautiful story of a great man. Just that it's a pity Max Baer had to be the victim to turn James Braddock's greatest fight as a fight against good and evil--Baer was a decent man who felt extremely remorseful over the death of his opponent.
Regardless, what a beautiful movie. What a man, James J Braddock is.

Unfortunately boxing sure isn't what it used to be. After watching the movie and browsing photos on this site, its clear that Braddock and the fighters of his era seemed to all share something that todays generation has lost. RESPECT. I wish more of todays boxers would spend less time before the bell rings telling us how great they are and how they will dismantle their opponent only to watch them dance and clinch all night. They just dont fight like they used to.

Like so many others have said who have posted on this site, I rarely am moved to seek out more information on anyone. James Braddock's story is unbelievable. The fact that it's non-fiction makes it one of the best stories I have ever heard. He should be an inspiration to all who feel they are down and out.
It should be noted that his service in the military after obtaining his World title is most admirable. Another testament to this man's character.
Thanks for sharing this site.

J.J. was truly an inspiration to hard working family men everywhere. After seeing Cinderella Man I felt compelled to see how much was fact and how much was fiction. I found this site and now hope I get a chance meet him in heaven.

James was a man of great character. His actions in the great depression inspire people to this day and you should be so proud of that. Much can be learned from the generations past and James is a testimate to the american spirit.

What an inspirational man. What a wonderful movie. If he was half the upstanding man this movie protrayed, he has more heart and integrity than many. The scene where he goes and asks for money from his old boxing collegues was heartbreaking. To watch him ask for help, which was obviously extremely hard for him being that he was such a strong man. But he did it out of love for his family, keeping a promise, and to teach his young son a lesson about love, honesty and being a good person. Wonderful work by Russell Crowe, Renee, Ron Howard. This is a great site. I am happy to now know such a great man exisited and hopefully his offspring are continuing those wonderful Catholic values and principles he taught you. God Bless JJB and may he rest in Peace. What an inspiration!!

When the Champ returned the welfare money he epitomised the spirit I'm afraid is lacking today. When my family was on welfare in 1932 and my Father was just appointed to the NYFD my Mother proudly said she no longer needed any support from the state, her husband had a job. In those days the staff came to the home and doled out the money. When the agent said congratulations he also asked when the first paycheck would come in my Mother said she didn't know. He said, "take the money".

James was a man of all men. He was a true sport and an excellent competitor. His story really is inspiring. It makes me want to go out more and fight for what I believe in. Thank the Lord for men like James J. Braddock.

Of his surviving family, remember a part of him resonates within you, you should be very proud of who you are. It's the story of which legends are based.

Sometimes one man's life has a greater impact on those around him than even he can ever imagine. This was the case with James J. Braddock, an underdog whose life was made more compelling because people believed he was "one of us." A true man in every sense of the word. Inspirational.

Never heard of James Braddock before seeing this movie. What makes this movie great? Based on a true story. Otherwise it would be unbelievable. Perhaps one of the best movies I have ever seen. The reaction of his wife screaming when he won the title was my favorite part.

Thank you for sharing the life of James Braddock with us. What resonates the most with people, at least to me, is the moral strength he carried.
A side note: People on this site keep referring to the film not getting Academy Awards and such, all I have to say is, Who cares? So what? The Academy and the rest of Hollywood sell immorality and garbage everyday. It's no surprise that an organization lacking values would not award a movie promoting them.
Braddock's story isn't about being a boxer, though he was certainly gifted. His story is about his integrity, his love for family and what it means to be a man, a husband, a father: loving, teaching, hard working.
This movie represents what made America great. It now represents what America lost and is trying to recover.
To the world: There really are Americans who uphold the values important to Braddock and others.
God bless the Braddock family. Thank you again.
