I saw Cinderalla Man and it was amazing. It so accurately portrays the life of Braddock! In a day and age where family doesn't seem to mean much one man fighting for his family makes you realize that the greatest heroes of the Depression were the common people.

Humble, loving and a true Champ in every sense of the word in and out of the ring. The integrity of this great man is what all people should aspire to be.

I just watched the movie with my husband and we were awestruck at the integrity, morals and tenacity of this man. I am so glad they made this movie, rarely do true stories leave you with such a great feeling and wanting to know more. It deserved many more oscar nominations. Thanks for the great website.

I am a high school history teacher. When my student teacher saw that we were to be studying the Crash and the Depression, he asked if I'd seen "Cinderella Man". Having been away for the summer, I had not. He suggested that clips be shown for reinforcement to the class. He loaned me the CD, whereupon I previewed it late one evening, alone. I worried if I would make it through without falling asleep. I needn't have worried! I was mesmerized and moved to tears.
Your grandfather reminded me of my father and uncle, a breed that has passed and I fear, never to return again. Your grandmother also, deserves much credit.
I used many clips from the film in class, not only to show the Depression, but to illuminate character traits and teach lessons that today's students sorely need.
You must be rightfully proud of your grandparents, on so many levels. Thank you for sharing the wonderful family pictures, also.

I grew up watching Ali fight along side my dad. I can't say I am a huge fan of the sport, but wanted to see this movie because of the memories I made with my father. After watching it, I immediately looked up this site and feel like I know this man. That is the sign of a FANTASTIC movie. I am just sorry that my dad is not here so we could have watched the movie together. He would have loved it! Thanks Ron Howard, for making this movie and for not letting America forget this inspirational man and his story!
God Bless!

I have always said that Jimmy Braddock was, without question, one of the most deserving boxers to have ever lived. And now the film is out, millions of others can share my opinion. The man's courage, heart, and determination still inspires millions. He truly deserves to go down in History alongside the likes of Ali and Sugar Ray.

I just wanna say that Braddock's history is one of the most touching that i've ever heard. Here i am, a 33 year's old mother from Brazil, completely astonished with his example of hope, strenght and love. I watched "Cinderella Man" just yesterday, and did a research to know a little more about this extraordinary man. God bless him, and all his family and friends."sorry 'bout the poor enlish folks!"

I'm German / Irish and was brought up in a blue collar houshold. My father was like Jim in that he was very decent and proud. Truly inspirational. You can bet that not one individual these days would give back their relief money......What a man !!

All I can say is I am truly inspired, and equally as proud of my Irish heritage. What an amazing story, as well as an amazing man.

Amazing movie about an equally amazing man, and after watching the movie I had to get on the internet to find out more about the Cinderella Man. What a great story to do a movie about.

I just watched Cinderella Man. I'm not much of a boxing fan, but WOW! If Russell Crow accurately potrayed the real Jim Braddock, all I can say is that the movie motivated the heck out of me. What an awesome inspiration. Thank you for this site. I literally ran to the computer to look up the real Cinderella Man.

I remember watching the "Friday Night Fights on television (Gillette Blue Blades and all that!) back in the 50's when I was a young boy and recall the introduction prior to big fights of former champions and other boxing personalities. While I was very young, I distinctly remember one fighter being referred to as the "Cinderella Man." I thought that an odd name for a boxer. Now that I have seen the movie, I know, as Paul Harvey would say, the rest of the story. Very inspiring story of an inspiring man.

I'm not much of a boxing historian but I am a fan of great biographies. My 17 year old son told me about the movie "Cinderella Man" and I just finished watching it this afternoon. What a fantasic portrayal of an inspirational man. So after the movie I had to find out the rest of the story and found your website, nice bio and pictures. I've added it to my favorites.

I can't stop thinking about the amazing story of Mr. Braddock as played by Russell Crowe. Ron Howard did a great job with this movie, Cinderella Man, which our family finally watched last night. The courage and principles he lived by really "lit up" this St. Patrick's Day weekend here, and he is a shining example for everyone for all time. My father would've enjoyed this, and could've told me how it was, listening to Jim's showdown with Max Baer on the radio.

Just saw Cinderella Man for the first time last night. I was so impressed and awed at what an inspiration Mr. Braddock was and still is today. What a wonderful man he was and how brave as well to excel in the face of so many obstacles. When he won the fight against Max I remarked, "What a victory for the common man." even though Mr. Braddock was far from common. Absolutely loved the movie.

My Dad, Jimmy, born June 8, 1937, was named for this inspirational man and was very proud of it. As a young man, he too was a boxer in Topeka, KS. My dad has since passed on but he was very proud of whom he was named for. He is missed dearly!
