James J. Braddock - Guestbook

James J. Braddock, World Heavy-Weight Champion

Welcome to the official guestbook of the James J Braddock website. Due to spam, we have been forced stop guestbook entries.

I remember my father, brother, uncle, and cousins huddled around the Victorola radio when Max Baer lost the world title to Jim. I also remember the same people listening around the RCA Victor radio where Joe Lewis won the title from Jim. I was 3 and a half at the Max Baer fight. I remember the cheers and roars in our living room of my family, jumping and yelling for Jim. In the first world title fight, Jim was the hero. In the second title fight, Joe Lewis seemed to be their hero. They seemed to be for the challenger. Anyway it was truly a wonderful, exciting time for me. I loved the movie...so sweet and good just like my own family and like so many millions at the time.

We just rented the movie last night and absolutely loved it. Hollywood could never create a story like this; only one man's heart and soul could overcome so many obstacles in life. What a true inspiration; JJB was a hero among heros for sure! We should all be so lucky to have such an inspiring person in our family. And then to go off to fight for this country and for our freedoms; this man had one hell of a heart and soul. Hello to his family and thanks for allowing James' story to be told; it's your story and your history too.

Since I practically made my b/f watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with me the night before yesterday, I thought it would be only fair to watch Cinderella Man with him. When the announcer in the ring said "Ladies and Gentleman ... by unnanimous vote.. the NEW... my jaw dropped, my tears came down and every hair on my arms stood up.... I clapped and cried like a baby!!!! what a movie!!! what a beautiful man!!! "I'm fighting for milk" I'll never forget that!!!!

I new your Daddy and I have one d to statement to say about him.
He was the the most true and honest man i have ever known. He was a true american. I wish more men were we like him today. We would be living in a better world. He was so proud of him familiy, even with Mae always giving him a hard time on fighting.

I just saw the movie and I was touched by the picture and an example as James Braddock shown being a husband and father and life fighter. It's a great example to fullfil a life mission as a man.

My family has always been huge boxing fans. My grandfather would say things like"He's pretty good, but no one has a right like James Braddock!" To say that the way he lived his life was a inspiration would be repetative. If all men fought for what was important instead of just fighting to fight, I think the world would be a better place. Mr. Braddock's story is one I will tell my son about...and I can only hope that he places as much love, hope and devotion into his life as Mr. Braddock did into his. Thank you for making it possible to learn more about such a devoted family man. God bless you.

I did not want the movie to end -such an inspiring story of love, faith and loyalty. Aside from the obvious wonderful traits James Braddock posessed, Mae must have also been a truly inspirational person. To deal with absolute poverty while wondering if your husband will be home that night took immense courage and love. Bless you and all of your family.

Doesn't this great champions life make later champs like Mike Tyson seem pathetic ? Excellent movie, could have been a mini series.
