James J. Braddock - Guestbook
Welcome to the official guestbook of the James J Braddock website. Due to spam, we have been forced stop guestbook entries.
Now, I know what my parents & grandparents went through with the Great Depression--I was crying in the first 15 minutes. To the Braddock family---you must be very proud and rightfully so---I hope this movie serves as an inspiration to everyone. Thank you!

I just finished watching the movie for the second time. What stands out for me is Mr. Braddock's character. It was the toughest of times, yet Mr. Braddock's character and integrity during the "Depression" continues to serves as an enduring tribute to Amerian grit and perseverence. Thank you, Mr. Braddock!

What an awesome, inspiring story! Kudos to Ron Howard, the cast and the Braddock family for sharing James Braddock's story with us! After watching this wondeful film, being inspired to research the real James Braddock, and reading other entries in this guestbook, it never ceases to amaze me that too often people aren't able to get past certain star-studded, Hollywood films, (in particular, previous ficional boxing films, i.e. Rocky, Rocky II, Rocky III, Rocky IV,…) and realize that, for one, this story is true, that Russell Crowe and Renee Zelweger are both consumate, Oscar-winning actors, and that guns, violence, hype and spectacle are not necessary in order to vicariously experience excitement, passion, strength, fear, and love, to name a few.
Thank you to the Braddock family, and to Ron Howard for delivering a story of depth and courage. Certainly, this film will be a classic that will inspire generations to come.

After watching the amazing movie of this man called the "Cinderella Man," my heart pounded as I watched this man overcome odds some of us will never reach. If anyone from his family reads this, to me, this man James Braddock was not only courageous, but someone I would have loved to get to know, his values and his life, thanks for the movie.

After watching the movie, I decided to see what the real JJB looked like. I found this site and was amazed at how many people had watched the movie on the same day. Small world I guess! Anyway - the film was put together well. They couldn't have picked a better lookalike. Seeing the hard times they as well as others went through during the depression makes you appreciate the luxuries we take for granted now. Hopefully one day we will see him again in the ressurection when the whole world will be filled with those who give their devotion to the one who created them, Jehovah God. Psalms 37:11, 29 says "the meek will posess the earth and find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace" and "they will reside forever in it". James Braddock seems like a meek man and one who would long for a world abundant in peace - the way the world was meant to be, Jehovah's original purpose. If you, the family, ever want to find out more about what the future holds and what we as Jehovah's Witnesses look forward to, please contact the local congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. These are the things we try to share with people all over the world. There is hope for the future for those who take a stand on Gods side. You can see him again! Right here on earth in a paradise worldwide. Sincerely, Tobias

The movie was wonderful, a true inspiration to others on how we should all live and respect our family as well as our country. Thanks Ron Howard for making a wonderful movie and getting a great story of a great man told properly.

Just watched Cinderella Man with my husband. Outstanding story of, not just of a boxer, but a man's character. I am not a fan of boxing, my tender heart just can't take it, so could really relate to James' wife. I don't remember when I have been so moved and inspired. Watching this movie was the best way to begin the New Year - a message of perserverance, hope, and belief that integrity really matters.

My wife and I watched the movie last night. One word to describe the movie - EXCELLENT - If more of todays professional athletes "played" with the same heart and intensity as James Braddock instead of whining about how much money they "need", what a difference it would make in the sporting world today. I would recommend it to any of them and anyone else. It truly kept us on the edge of our seats. A very moving story, with excellent cast and production. It'll definately be in my library.

Last night my wife and I watched the story of Mr. James J Braddock . Although we now live in NC , we are both born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and the Hudson Valley Area in upstate in NY. This movie was fantastic . We also did not know much about this man but the story has reinforced what my wife and I knew all along. My wife is Irish and I am Italian and it was our early relatives that survived the Great Depression and helped to make this country what it is today. Although his life story took place many years ago it was clear that even then ( like today ) there were the " haves" and the "have nots " . Cheers to the working families today . Mr. Braddock can still be an inspiration for all the hard working folks. At the end of the day , God will Bless them as they struggle through life .

My wife and I watched the movie "Cinderella Man" today and I must say it is one of the best movie's that I have ever seen. I never knew much about Mr. Braddock until now. I had always been a big fan of Rocky Marciano and felt nobody could hold a candle to him. In regards to records maybe not, but as a man, as an inspiration for what is good in people I beleive Mr. Braddock is right there if not more. Thanks for sharing Mr. Braddock's story with those of us who did not live during that time period. I will now cherish the lives and inspirations of both the "Rock" and "Cinderella Man" . Thanks again for opening Mr. Braddock's life to those of us that will value it. Thanks

If the movie "Cinderella Man" really reflects who was Joe Braddock, I think he was an excellent boxer and a good man. I heard about the 1930's depression from my mother. I heard about addind water in the milk and all the hunger. He was a good husband and one of the best fathers. His life touched me and my husband and we were surprised to never heard about him before. I'm glad to find some pictures of him on this site. He really had the shape of a bull dog! :)

We were not able to get the Giants vs Raiders game on our local TV channel (12/31/05), So, my wife went out and rented "Cinderella Man" at the last minute. It was better than watching the game !!
Mr. Braddock is a true American hero. More then worthy of having his life's story told. Russell Crowe did a great job playing Mr. Braddock.
A great movie to add to my collection!

I purchased the movie "Cinderella Man" and it is the first movie I watched in the new year. Which I finished watching the movie, I was inspired to find out more about James Braddock. The movie presented him as a family man and such a gentlemen. Even in my brief research, I find that the movie is not just spin but appears to be very accurate.
Excellent!!!

Wow! My wife rents all of our movies and she always picks winners. And this one was certainly top of the list. I am not a boxing fan, but Braddock's story and Ron Howard’s superb directing made for a great evening. About six months ago, I met another famous boxer, Jake LaMotta, when I was in New York for a visit. When I arrived home from New York, I rented Raging Bull I learned about his inspiration story as well. Great story and thanks for putting together this very informative web site! Happy New Year.

I watched Cinderella Man, 12/30/2005, 12/31/2005, and just finished before accessing this website (1/1/2006). Each time I watch this movie I feel more inspired and a greater connection to Mr. James J. Braddock. His tale is one of great perseverance. commitment to family, personal sacrifice, humility and love for life. Similar to Job in the Bible, he faced trails and tribulations only to stay strong and never give up. Both boxing and the world need more men like Jim Braddock. A True Inspiration!

My husband and I decided to bring in the New Year with some good food and some good movies since we have two year old twins at home. We don't get out to see movies much! Cinderella Man was highly recommended to us as a "must see". As I tried to rent it I found out that everyone else wanted to watch it too to bring in the New Year! I was able to get it though! We thoroughly enjoyed this movie!! I had never heard of James Braddock and now I want to read a Biography about him! What a wonderful, heart warming movie. I would recomend it to anyone!

I just viewed the movie Cinderella Man and would like to say that James J. Braddock was the kind of American we should all strive to be today. There is no doubt that this will be a much better country if we did. I was inspired to tears while watching Mr. Howard's wonderful presentation of this great man's life story. I think this film should be required viewing in every classroom in the counrty that studies The Great American Depression because it shows exactly the kind of courage and determination we all should strive to achive in times of great adversity, be it physical or emotional. Thank you family Braddock for sharing a wonderful life with us all. James J. Braddock is one of my heros, not just because he was a boxer and soldier, but mostly because he is a great roll model for us all. God bless America.
