I watched the movie and was inspired and touched by this story. It seemed as though James was a great man, father, husband and boxer, and his determination and motivation moved me throughout the movie. I thought the fights were great in the movie, and I would have loved to have been present for a true live fight!

Jim Braddock still can inspire today. His story reminds us uf the sacrifices of an entire generation to make American the great nation it is today. As a young adult I took a lot from Jim's story and gained a great appreciation for my own grandfather, also member of the "Greatest Generation" and a hero. Thank you for this great website.

James J Braddock is the Champ of all Champs. He had courage like no other will have. A true hero and great sportsman that touched many hearts. I would be SO proud for his family to this day. Could you even imagine meeting his family in person? No words could describe it!

This is my all time favorite story about the famous world boxing champion, James J. Braddock, because, I served on the same merchant ship as a member of the US Navy gun crew. James was a member of the merchant marine crew. At the end of the movie, Cinderalla Man, it was mentioned that he served honorably in World War 11. I was only 18 at the time and I think James was about 38. He put on boxing demostrations for the US Navy crew and the Merchant Marine crew during our convoy trip across the Atlantic Ocean. We were carrying all kinds of war material which was used to help defeat Hitler and his armies. When you rent the movie, Cinderalla Man, be sure to turn the disk over because , Ron Howard, the director, put in some wonderful special features about James family and pictures of the actual fight between James Braddock and Max Baer. I boxed as an amateur in my teens in the 60s, and I know that boxing builds character. In this movie, I have seen the one of the greatest examples of character I've ever witnessed, and the story reduced me to tears many times. It's worth noting that no amount of hardship ever lessened the love between Jim & Mae and the kids. Now that's commitment - the kind of commitment that is lacking in society today! How I would have loved to know you, Jimmy! Your example has taught me so much about life. Howard, you have been privileged to have Jim and Mae as parents! Thanks, Russell and Renee, for playing your parts so faithfully.

Great movie! A man with integrity, a wonderful husbund and father, and he could box too. There is nothing better than real American Heros.

What a great story! A real story about a man's fight (not only in the ring) for respect, justice and honor. A great story about the woman behind the man also ~ he needed her support and she was there for him to encourage him on to greatness. How proud you must be of your parents/grandparents.
I loved the movie. Thank you for making it.

What a movie........What a role model.........Why did it take so long to tell this story! I thank your family, Ron Howard, and Rusell Crowe for making James Braddock and the depression come alive! What lessons can we learn from James life and the Depression! God Bless the memory of James Braddock!

My father, "Young Kid McCoy," was also managed by Joe Gould. Jimmy coached my father for the Danny Williams fight. I have news photos of Jimmy coaching the Kid, and a Chirstmas greeting card (probably produced by Joe Gould) showing Jimmy introducing "Young Kid McCoy, the next welter-weight champion of the world." I also have a photo of Jimmy and The Kid at the famous Leon & Eddies in New York. What memories this movie brought back. I'm going to dig through all of my dad's old news clippings.
