James J. Braddock, World Heavy-Weight Champion

Welcome to the official guestbook of the James J Braddock website. Due to spam, we have been forced stop guestbook entries.

It was amazing to watch such a gritty and true story. I felt like I was back in the 30's. I am fascinated with this era. I was glad that everyone can enjoy an inspiring story from such a tragic time.

This is the first time I've ever entered a comment about a movie, and even though it appears that everything has already been written that possibly could, I have to let you know how much I enjoyed the movie also! I had never heard about JJB's story; but I'm glad that I have now. Your grandfather is a TRUE hero. I hope he realized how much of a hero he was. The movie inspired my heart to try even harder to leave the kind of legacy I can be proud of for my family. Your family has much to be proud of!

My memories of James Braddock are through my Father, who was 10 years old at the time and listened to the Baer fight on the radio. What an inspiration Mr. Braddock was and still is today. A wonderful story that I'm happy was told for everyone to enjoy and see a true meaning of determination, human spirit and love of family.

My grandfather used to fight and would tell me about all of the old time fighters when I was a kid. We still talk about them. He used to work on the docks as well. James J. Braddock's story is special and I was touched by the movie. He was a true person who loved his family and fought his way to be champ. He did a lot after his career as well. I didn't know too much about him until i saw the movie and it's one of my favorite movies.

I saw the movie and is an inspiration for me. Although we are not going thru The Great Depression still seems for some people that the money is not enough and that somt times one job won't do it. But they way James Braddock fought for his wife and family to make it better is the same way that I should fight and strive to bring the best to my wife and family. It made me rethink alot and treat my wife better then what I do and love my kids even more. God bless the Braddock family.

I new the name but the movie told me the rest... I take my hat off for a great man, a better father and husband and the best boxer of his time.
It was an honor to see the movie and read about him.
God Bless!

Courage, integrity, human spirit... These are but a few of the adjectives that describe James J Braddock and what life is all about.

A true American hero.

What an enlightening movie.......your father was a "shining light" at a pivotal time in our nations history.......you, and we, can be proud of such a wonderful thought provoking man.

I'm just a girl. But my dad has been in the ring as an amateur and I've watched boxing since I was a little kid (OK, I was hiding under the table, as I wasn't supposed to be up and watch that kind of TV...)
What caught my eye in the movie was how Jim was playfully teaching his daughter how to spar. My dad did that with me. It came in handy years after when I faced some hairy situations.
What can I say? If Jim Braddock was the kind of man portrayed by Russell Crowe, then I'm really sorry they don't make more like him: caring and solid in what they do with their life.

I just watched the movie a little while ago.I must admit that i have watched alot of good boxers, but none with the will to win like he had.The best thing that i liked is the fact that he did the fighting for his family and not just for the fame and glory. He is a good roll model.Just wish that i could of been around to watch him box.

Well I am in the U.S. Air Force and Mr. Braddock is my hero. I think he was a great man always there to provide for his family as much as he could. He fought for his family and that's what I really like a/b him!

The Bulldog from Bergen! New Jersey's Pride! I have been living in NB 20 yrs and it make me proud to know such an amazing story came out of my town.
The movie shed some light on my curiousity on the man's name that was put on the sign of HUDSON COUNTY PARK.
Classic line "Let me fight, so at least I know who's hitting me."

I watched the movie last night for the first time. In addition to realizing what a great human being was, I was trying to imagine today's society being faced with the insurmountable challenges many American's faced during the Great Depression. I tried to put myself in Braddock's shoes - or any desparate soul's shoes. I just hope I never REALLY have to. Thanks James Braddock!

I used to box in the 50's as a teen in toronto ont.and a gentleman would come around once in awhile and show us the old fight films on a projector,we really thought the fighters from the 30's were the best your dad included.Cinderella man is probably the best fight film made, nicely balanced scenes.

I again watched the movie last night, along with all the bonus features of the DVD. I was moved (again) at the end when James J. Braddock won the HW title. I also enjoyed the parts of the DVD that showed members of his family, son Howard and grandchildren. The whole experience was amazing. I belong to a "Rocky" board and realized that Rocky is confiming the inspirtation and hope that James J. Braddock actually accomplished in real-life and against the toughest of odds. I again want to say how fantastic the movie was and the Braddock family are right to be proud of their heritage and being related to The Champion!

I just wanted to say that James J Braddock is my idiol. He has taught me not to give up. His story has inspired me so much. I know you must be so proud of your dad Howard. Even tho I don't know who is physically, but from the movie he always put his family and friends first and when he fought for milk. That inspired me. All I have to say is what a great man he is and the movie 10 out 10 for everything and I liked the fact how his granddaughter actually held a role in the moive would of been nice if there were family, but great movie great man, great boxer.

Amazing, I absolutely loved the movie and cant wait to add it to my DVD collection. What an inspiration. Thank you for the website as well I had to learn more about the man and it brought me here. One suggestion, add a T-Shirt in the likes of the cooperstown stuff with the old ballplayers, it would be great to have something like that bearing The Champs likeness.

To the James J. Braddock family. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. My wife and I just watched Cindarella Man. What a great way to start off the Holiday season. An honest movie about true family values and the determination of a loving heart. May God bless your family and thanks again
