My grandfather used to regail us with stories of the great Jimmy Braddock as we used to settle in to watch a fight on TV.
Now I can fully realize his enthusiasm and far reaching adulation,
His favorite saying, "Hard times separate the men from the mice"

What a story and what an inspiration. Thank you, Jim & Mae Braddock, for being such inspiring examples of hard work, dedication, determination, honesty, and never giving up.

Jim Braddock: a man determined to do what it takes to survive. Sometimes winning isn't wins and losses..sometimes it's just doing the necessary.

What an inspiration, I loved the fact that everybody celebrated his win over Baer. The movie made you feel as if you were watching it live. The wait for the decision, I was even screaming. One of the best stories and movies of all time. America loves a winner. God Bless James J. Braddock for inspiring the people of his day and for inspiring me even after 70 plus years after becoming Champion of the World. James J. Braddock, thank you!!!!

We just watched the movie and we absolutely loved it! What an inspiration your grandparents were. Your Dad showed more courage & guts then anyone during his time. You and your family should be very proud of him. Thank you for being willing to share your incredible story with the world.

Terrific movie, best Ive seen in years. - inspirational. He was such a man of courage and integrity, heart, fearless. He fought for his family.

Braddock is an insperation to all Americans everywhere and is a symbol of perserverence and overall greatness, my grandfather would always talk about James and his fights and everytime he did so he mentioned not only the punches he threw but the heart and character he had. As an Irish-American I am proud to be of the same country as great a man as the Bulldog.

Now I know why my dad used to go on about the old heavyweight champs of the 20s and the 30s,James J Braddock, fought very courageously in the ring and he also fought outside the ring against the great depression of the late 20s and into the dirty 30s he was and still is a great credit to the human spirit and what it can endure and overcome in the face of adversity he certainly was a peoples champion, but then again it comes as no surprise to this Scottish/ Canadian of Irish descent ,because he and his parents before him came no doubt from tough Celtic stock and they knew instinctively how to survive in the New World,here's to your memory James J Braddock,proud Irish American.

Tried to watch the movie, but couldn't take the fight scenes. However, I was so touched by the integrity, courage and morality of your mother and dad, as portrayed in the movie. What wonderful people they must have been. Thank you for sharing all of this on the website.

Hi ive just been learning about the Great Depression in school and got a glimpse of how hard times were in that period. its nice to know they had a hero. i just watched Cinderella man and it was was a Great movie and it seems that Russell Crowe did James justice.

He was the kind of man we should all strive to be like. You can certainly be proud of him. Thanks for a wonderful story.

This movie really touched me. It made me appreciate the three things that I take for granted most of the time and that is food, shelter and clothing. I will never forget this story. God Bless.

I just watched the movie last night with my wife and enjoyed not only the movie but the story from beginning to end, one thing I will take from that movie is"I fight for milk" great line from a great man, too bad there aren't more like James J. Braddock.

Braddock's story is one of the most defining examples of "why we fight for what we fight for". Should you ever forget what is important in your life - Look again at his example of holding what's important in front of you. I was truly moved by the movie.

As a boxing fan, I knew about James J.Braddock before the Cinderalla man was released. When you read about the antisocial behavior of many top athletes today, it makes you appreciate just how noble and good Mr Braddock was. He should serve as a role model for all athletes: a man who showed extraordinary courage under the most trying of circumstances, and who always put his family first. I am happy that the film has highlighted the exemplary characteristics of Braddock.

The movie was great!!! I have never seen a touching story and the way the fight was AWESOME!!! This is better than ROCKY! I hope to see another story likes this made into a movie!!
