James J. Braddock - Guestbook
Welcome to the official guestbook of the James J Braddock website. Due to spam, we have been forced stop guestbook entries.
Me and my boyfriend just saw the movie and thought it was very inspiring and a beautiful story about Jim and your family. We think that Russell Crowe portrayed him very well. Jim was a very blessed man and a true champ. I also want to wish your family season's greetings.

I just saw the movie a few hours ago - of course I thought it was incredible. There were many, many meaningful scenes but I think my favorite was when James told his hungry daughter that he was SO FULL and asked if she wanted his bologna (I think that's what it was.) The scene reminds me of stories my mom tells of her dad during the depression - my grandpa would often give his meal to his kids and say he "Just wasn't real hungry." In our ultra fame-driven pop culture seeing a movie about an ordinary person who loved his family and had morals is such a treat! Thanks for the great website too!

I'm not so much of a big boxing fan but since seeing the movie, I must say I think I have more respect for it. James Braddock was an amazing man and definately someone everyone should look up to, for he was a rolemodel, in many ways.

There are times in every man's life when they look for inspiration. James J Braddock was mine. In the face of staggering odds of the depression and nearly losing his family he showed that with dogged determination and keeping focus on what is important he accomplished what he had to with the talents God gave him to care for his wife, children and inspire a nation of downtrodden people that the common man can overcome overwhelming odds when no one else but himself believed. I am truly grateful for those who made a movie about a true hero who lived and wasn't fictional.

I'm a firefighter in Stamford, Connecticut while at the firehouse and during some down time we watched the DVD. Very good movie about how someone with decency and determination can overcome adversity and become successful, admired and at the same time provide inspiration for generations to come. Great story-Great movie.
P.S. Don't tell the other firefighters I was teary eyed.

My wife and I just saw Cinderalla Man and were deeply moved by Mr. Braddock's courage, and integrity.
His story will live as an inspiration and an example to all who face adversity, and an "impossible dream".
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to acknowledge his greatness

I was on the computer and my wife was watching this movie. I got so into the movie that I stopped playing on the computer and watched the movie. It was a great film about a hero of the honest man.

A man who lived his entire life in such a way his friends could defend him, but they never had to.
The story brought tears to my eyes.

I live in North Bergen, where James J. Braddock moved to after leaving New York. I never knew who he was until I myself started boxing down at the P.A.L. I was glad this inspirational movie was made because it's hard being inspired now a days.....I now often run in the North Bergen park named after him....James J. Braddock, thank you

What an amazing inpirational family movie! This true story is what's needed nowadays to promote family values where so many struggle with it. Thanks to the family to allow the story to be shared, and to Ron Howard, actors and crew for doing a brilliant job.

What a great film. This was riveting...it will stay with me forever. This film is truly from a time when our greatest generation was alive and well. It was these days that your word meant something. It was these days when men were not men unless they contributed to society, repaid their debts, avoided taking handouts, and took responsibility for their families. Now half the population expects the government to pick up the tab. We need to look to this generation and take some notes. To anyone reading this, ask your great grandpa what life was like and immortalize his words. God Bless our forefathers.

What an inspiration. James J. Braddock reminds me of my father, after watching the movie. A hard working man that did all he could for his family and his country. Repaying the emergency relief fund would be the exact same thing my father would do. I would expect that of myself also, although I could never compare myself to Mr. Braddock or my father. May God always bless the Braddock families and may He shine his blessedness on those who follow in such a great man's footsteps. Thank you for sharing his story with us on this website and on the Ron Howard directed film.
