James J. Braddock - Guestbook
Welcome to the official guestbook of the James J Braddock website. Due to spam, we have been forced stop guestbook entries.
What an inspiration James J. Braddock must have been to the American People in the 1930's. His story is one of a true american hero.
The film is a sure Oscar contender and one I hope everyone gets a chance to see.

The legacy of James J Braddock makes me happy to be an American. Best movie I've ever seen. I would have really enjoyed to be around when Braddock was alive.

As a young Cuban Refugee in 1967-1968 while in H.S at North Bergen, I meet Mr Braddock while delivering his dry cleaning once a week. I did not new much about the man then except that he was a kind man who always tip me. I saw the movie today and it brought me a lot of memory from the 60's. Great Movie, an inspiration.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie Cinderella Man. I would like to see a picture of Mae and the kids. She was such a strong support for him. This movie is a must see for all fathers especially those who are thinking or have abandoned their children. Let the life of James Braddock be an inspirational to all

Thank you for sharing the amazing life of Mr. James J. Braddock with the rest of the world. He was and now is through the art of movie history, a man who defied all odds in times of adversity and showed courage and endurance to go all the way. His passion for boxing and devotion to his family is truely lengendary, reserved only by a few men in history.
Thank you!

The movie was fantastic! The touching moments of love between so many characters challenges you to "fight the fight" and reach out to others. The world is a better place because of men like James Braddock and women like Mae Braddock. Ron Howard did a great job, he gave us the gift of knowing the Braddock story. Thanks!

I just returned from the movies with my mother and was so moved by the life of Jimmy and how well he cared for his family. I was so scared that he was going to die or lose to Baer and my eyes were closed for most of the fight. Silly me... I have never once come home from the movies and wanted more info. The best movie I have seen and hopefully it wins an award and kudos to your family.

In a PBS special they mentioned that Braddock made a deal to fight Joe Louis, even though Max Schmelling had just won their "fight-off".
Part of the reason why Braddock did this was a deal that provided him income from Louis's future fights. (This is all according to the PBS story).
If true, doesn't this take the edge off Braddock's good guy image? After all, Schmelling won the right to get the next title shot. Louis got the fight that, was believed at the time, either contender would have won over Braddock.
I'm aware that Louis was a poor black man and Schmelling a Nazi pin-up boy. My point is directed to Braddock-these guestbook comments lead one to believe his was so pure that to look at him might turn us to salt.

My husband and I just got back from the movie and we just loved it! James Braddock was a class act. We loved watching his interactions with his wife, kids, friends, manager, and how he fought in the ring. He was an upstanding man and a grandfather you should be very proud of. What a strong woman Mae was also. As we left the theater, we ran into a man who is 77 years old. He told us that when he was 9 years old his father took him from Minnesota to Chicago to see the Braddock - Louis fight! Very cool! The movie definitely moved us as we immediately wanted to learn more about James Braddock. We haven't seen a movie that wonderful in a long, long time. Thank you!

I saw the movie a couple weeks ago and was just so moved. The scene where he took his to the butcher where he had stollen food really moved me. Even thouth they were so poor and on the verge of starvation he taught his son steeling was wrong, yet the lesson was taught with love.
His was a story that needed to be told and it was done brilliantly
James was a great man and role model for all

What a man of integrity, loyalty, heart and character..that transcended the ring. Your family must be so proud of the example he set. I am interested in reading more about Braddock.

For Father's Day Eve my family watched the movie, Cinderella Man. We really enjoyed learning about such a great man, James J. Braddock. Plus, his wife was a very special lady, too. Furthermore, I'd like to thank the Estate of James J. Braddock for the opportunity to gain further insight on such an honorable man through this website.

I drove up tonight from Houston and took my Father to see the movie as an early Father's Day present. The man, James J. Braddock, stood for intergrity and honor. My Father remembers listening to the fight versus Max Baer on the radio! It just goes to show, "Every WINNER has scars". Thanks for sharing such an inspirational man's story.

What a great uplifting story! It's about time these stories are told. The entire theater clapped at the end. Lets us know we will get through all of the trials in these times.

Although I have never been much of a boxing fan, I went with my husband to this movie for a Father's Day date. I believe every woman should see this movie because it reveals what is in all men's hearts: The need to fight for something worthwhile. Thanks to all the men who fight every day for their families! It may not be in a boxing ring, but it is just as much a fight!

Wonderful depiction of great moral character, the depression era, and what helped make America great. This is the best film I have seen in years.

I just saw the movie and was so inspired by this man's tenacity and integrity. So glad to have a chance to tell you so. My dad boxed semi-pro and was so very into the sport. I am sure he knew of Mr. Braddock and wish I had the opportunity to ask him about his memories of Jimmy. Being an Irish scrapper himself, I am sure he was a role model for my father as well. Thanks for sharing his wonderful story with all of us!

What an amazing story of common descency. Russell Crowe was brilliant in his portrayal of Braddock. I don't like boxing but enjoyed this movie so much. This story touched my heart.

Tomorrow is father's day and I think I will take my children to see this movie (a second time for me) to watch what a true father ought to be.
He is an inspiration to all fathers around the world

Last night I saw Cinderella Man. It was so moving and touching! My parents were married during the depression and my Mom told me many stories about the depression and listening to the fights on the radio. Today I just had to look up Jimmy Braddock and learn more about his family. Thanks to you for sharing the family's history. God bless you. You have wonderful Grandparents! What good people to look up to.

Just came home from seeing the movie. How wonderful to see a glimpse of the life of such a wonderful human being. I am not a fan of boxing, but cheered very loudly when he won the championship. So did the rest of the theater. God Bless you all.

What an inspirational story! My parents lived through the Depression and told me stories of survival, but not like what I saw today in the film. This man is a hero to us today and should always be remembered as such!
