What can I say..not a dry eye by the end of that movie. Went to see this wonderful movie last night. I love sport movies but this is one of the greatest i have seen. Never knew much about the Bulldog but now quite interested. I am jeoulous of the love he had for his family . YOu dont see that often around this area. His rag to riches story will remain with me for a long time.

I saw this movie last night. I wish that I had the privilege of knowing Mr. (and Mrs.) Braddock personally. His determination, love for his family, integrity and humility are ledgendary.
Thank you for bringing this to our lives.

I just watched the movie "Cinderella Man" last night, and it was absolutely wonderful. I had no idea about the life of Braddock, and this movie touched me. Also, the acting was quite tremendous and I will go back to see it again. I have never watched a movie twice in a theater, but this one is the one for me. Thank you so much for sharing the life of Braddock and giving me a different look at life.

One of the best films I've ever seen...I am an actress and I believe the acting and direction to be top notch...if it doesn't sweep the Oscar's next year I'll be surprised. Russell Crowe is outstanding...his best role yet!

A terrific, uplifting and wonderful story of a great man whose love of his family, and fellow man, as well as the sprit that drove him to acheive what others thought were folly. This movie is not only an inspiration but a fabulous feel good one. Thanks to the Braddock family for sharing.

One of the most poignant, inspirational films made in quite some time which establishes Russell Crowe as the premier male actor of this generation. The film has reaffirmed my faith in the U.S. cinema industry, which is clearly capable of artful work. Many cudos to Ron Howard and the fine crew and cast he assembled.

What a wonderful story. A man with integrity, courage, perseverance, and a willingness to work. How almost unheard of those characteristics are in today's society.
My wife and I were discussing the movie at dinner and we wondered if our country could go through The Depression again and if there would be men and women like your grandfather and grandmother. We are such a soft bunch now, depending on the government to provide for us.
The story is wonderful and the real story is even more so.

My husband and I just saw Cinderella Main" last night. We absolutely loved it and thought it was one of the best films we ever saw. Mr. Braddock and his wife are two people who should be admired. Their love for each other and family should be an example for us all today. Men like Mr. Braddock should be our young people's hero - hopefully this movie accomplishes this. To Mr. Crowe, Ms. Zellweger, and Mr. Howard - See you on the Academy Awards next year. Bravo!!

I had heard of Jim Braddock only because my parents had wallpapered a tinybathroom in wallpaper that had headlines from old newspapers on it.
Really a great story--for everyone who has thought thmeselves to be down and out--this movie inspires hope and determination as well as decency and honor and WOW what a movie. Russell Crowe and Ron Howard
may as well start writing their acceptance speeches starting with "I'd like to thank the Members of the Academy"

To the post by Sal Mangano - Saddle Brook, Nj USA re your post on 2005-06-03 16:56:06 the substitute postman for Big JOHN! WoW you brought another wonderful memory of my childhood to the surface. What ever happend to Big JOHN? He was the kind of postman that Norman Rockwell would paint about! He was so kind to the chldren in the neighborhood, we would walk with him to all the houses on our street and sometimes he would give us a short ride on top of the mail that was in those big leather saddle bags on the push cart. No Mail trucks back then. It was all done by foot. As I posted earlier on this site, I lived across the street from Mr. Braddock, and I wrote about my memories of him, and now you too bring back great memories for me and my family by mentioned Big John the mailman. Wasnt there a "Little John" that also subbed on the route I wonder if Ron Howard really has a clue as to what he has given back to the people of North Bergen and to Mr. Braddock. MR. Howard, you have brought to the surface emotions that had nothing to do with the movie as a bonus! Thank you for this great tribute to Jim Braddock and his roots in North Bergen.
PS... When my 15 son was 5 he looked exactly like you when you were"opie" I have the "got Milk" ad to prove it. I hope its a sign for good things to come to all. Loved you then and now for the pleasure you bring to the art of filmaking.
again I sign,

there are no words to explain courage and character such as his. Can you imagine a country of James Braddocks?

What a fantastic movie, & truly a great boxer & family man!! I went into the movie not knowing anything about the outcome, & still cry when I think about it, & how blessed I am in this great country. Ron Howard-Keep making these kind of movies, as this is the kind of stories people want to know about. Hope you, & everyone in this movie get an Academy Award for best picture!!

The movie was great...but...the man was much better. You must be so proud of your father. More than anything else...he was true to himself...and your mother...these are the type of people that should be role models to this generation...not the hip hops and whatever, but men and women like Mr. & Mrs. James J. Braddock.

Inspiring! I saw the movie last night. This is an example of how courage, determination, mental toughness, and character can serve as a role model for many generations to come. Thanks to the Braddock family for sharing Jim's story with us in the movie and this website.

Being only 27, (and not particularly much of a boxing fan) I had never heard of James J Braddock. After seeing the movie last night I believe Mr. Braddock should be thought of as a great American hero. The world would be a better place if more men were like him. As a history teacher, I believe it should be a requirement that everyone know his story.
