James J. Braddock, World Heavy-Weight Champion

Welcome to the official guestbook of the James J Braddock website. Due to spam, we have been forced stop guestbook entries.

With familes falling apart, integrity no longer important, this movie inspired and encouraged me. Mr Braddock was more than a hero in the ring..he was a true husband and father. This movie should have been nominated for an Academy Award. Shame on Hollywood!

For all the Boxing events in history. A man who was an under weight fighting as a heavy weight. There has never been and never will be an underdog like James Braddock. A soldier and patriot. A hard working family man. I'm so proud of his spirit to never, ever give up!

Thank you for bringing such a "Cinderella" story that uplifted my spirit.

The movie was enlightening and reminds us of what America was and still can be.

I just saw the movie and I'm ashamed to say, I missed seeing it sooner! I see every fight movie there is and this one got past me! It was inspirational! The fact that it was a true story is even more impressive! I laughed, cried and cheered for the hero all the way through! I rememer times like that in my life when money was tight and bills didn't get paid, so I hurt right along with him! I got no real talent for anything so I don't know how it feels to win against the odds, but this movie got me close! Thank you Mr. Braddock! You still are an inspiration to america!

All things are possible with belief. He had a deep sense of family and trust that doing what is right wins, and with it blessings. I just finished the movie and had to get on line to learn more, anyone that can inspire and overcome great odds is a hero to me and helps me to be proud of my own accomplishments. May GOD continue to bless his generations forever.

James Braddock's life spurs anyone who might think the odds are too long, to think again. I also found it remarkable that Braddock's bad breaks didn't make him bitter. Instead, those experiences molded him into an indefatigable worker.

His story ought to be required reading for all us

Makes the Irish proud, not just for Braddock's fighting history and comeback, but for prevailing over an extremely tough economic environment and keeping his family together, as many others did, including my father.
Prior to this movie, I could not stand Russell Crowe based on his actions outside of movies....with this movie I can no longer ignore his amazing acting ability.
Thanks for this site as I'm sure it gets many hits after a showing of the movie.

My Grandfather was a boxing referee and always told me that James J. Braddock was "The Man" while I was growing up in the early '60's. After seeing the movie Cinderella Man last night, and googling him this morning, i can see why. It makes me even more proud to have grown up in New Jersey.

I watched the movie "Cinderella Man" tonight and was so impressed that I had to research this marvellous man to see who he really was. I'm so glad I found this site first!

I think that even today, this man's legacy is to change lives. I can see by the long list of guests that I am far from being alone in feeling touched by his destiny. I think the thing that I finally "got" after sharing a glimpse of the Champ's life was that without suffering and struggle, without pain or dark days, there would be nothing to make the accomplishments and triumphs of this life shine, and they would be nothing more than handouts rather than victories, being neither earned nor deserved, and certainly not appreciated, but how sweet is victory that truly IS! Thanks for a life well lived and those who will never forget so that more of us won't either!

James Braddock's life is inspiring to me, he shows us all through his own struggles that there is always hope out there and how his family stood by his side believing in him which is very important. James Braddock's life illustrates that when people in your life loves you and believes in you they can really push you through many victories.

Thank you James Braddock for what you have done for boxing and thank you to the family that transcends his legacy. His story will hopefully endure the the respect that boxing deserves.

I would like to say to the family of Mr. Braddock, I am sorry for your loss, your loss seems to have been the loss of mankind and as I read about how he lived and what family meant to him, I fell the loss as if I was connected in some way to him, I realize I am not, but it is men like him that give young men like my self some thing worth living for. The humanity Mr. Braddock presented through out his life is nothing more than amazing and inspiring to all who posses any kind of humility for life, in the times he was in, when other men gave in to temptation. However, Mr. Braddock did not. I have never in my life met, or heard of a man that carried him self as Mr. Braddock did. I am from the fifties, born in New York, Manhattan Island and have experienced hardship and watch my father struggle most of his life to keep what pride for himself that he could however, he faltered and found an easier path. I don’t fault my father, he did what he thought was right for him to give to us, however not all that he did was on this side of the law, but who am I to judge. Mr. Braddock had to have come from a family of great teachings of this kind of behavior and his mother and father I am confident were proud of their Son. I wish I had what he had, Honor and Humility, True Love for his kids and wife and mankind even when mankind did not give him his due respect. My heart is full of tears as I write this, but they are tears of joy, because if I have learned any thing in my short time on earth and from Mr. Braddock is that it is not what we do in the theater, but what we do when no one is watching that counts, this act will be exposed through out our lives and will be rewarded by good fortune and this fortune is what our children go on to do and the love they return to us and to mankind. Thank you for your time and thank you for the lessons Mr. Braddock, I will try carrying them through out the rest of my life and will try to pass them on to my children so that the world is a better place.

I don't presume to know, nor am I going to speculate what the motivation of Jim or his manager was to enter the armed services. I only wish that more people today would be about the service of the country that makes this incredible life possible, if not in the armed services, then in some other area. He and Joe were surely part of an incredible generation with serious fortitude. I am hopeful that there is yet another such generation about to rise to the challenges of this time.

I am a 45 year old competing Full contact Kickboxer. James Braddok and Max Baer were warriors of there time and the film was inspirational. It made me keep on competing, even at my age, It just goes to show that human spirit can not be subdued and that if you want something enough in life, anything can be achieved.
