His spirit and love of family, had me in tears at the end of the film. I cannot imagine how proud his family must be of him.

23 years ago today we lost a true legend, a true fighter in every sense, a true gentlemen, an inspiration, all a child could ask for in a father, all a wife could ask for in a husband.
Men like James J. Braddock are few are far between.
We miss you Champ!...and oh, how I would have loved to have witnessed your fights!

The title of the movie is what kept me from watching it before. I thank you not only for sharing the life of your father through the movie, but for showing America what a real Man does with disappointments in life. God Bless

What a great movie. To bad Boxing is not like this today. I have Jack Dempseys autograph from my Grandfather when he visited his restaurant in New York City. I have read about Mr. Braddock. What a role model. God Blessed the Irish.

My daughter called me one day and told me about a movie that reminded her alot of me. I was an amateur fighter in my younger days and later I served in the US ARMY for 23 years. In 2002 was diagnosed with a brain tumor and was medically retired. After 15 Neurosurgeries and over 50 NICU stays, I continue to fight for myself, but mostly for my family. As I watched the JJB story, I saw a kindred spirit and a man that overcame many obstacles to become the Heavyweight Champion of the World. He also served bravely in WWII, which only cemented the idea that we were, indeed, kindred spirits. The movie "Cinderella Man" has inspired me to keep going and to never take my eye off the prize. Jimmy Braddock, thank you for showing me that no matter how tough things get, there is always something worth fighting for.

I just seen the movie cinderella man. That was the best movie I have ever seen. I was telling my wife how I never knew anything about James B. I lived in north bergen all my life. I graduated NB High school in the 80's. I knew hudson county park was named after him but I did not know anything about him. You would think that the teachers would put that in our education during our high school years. I am humbled and inspired by James. Thank you and have a great day

Just finished watching the movie for a second time and like others on this site, it prompted me to search for the "real" Baer/Louis fight footage. It is increasingly rare to find a person who sticks to their values and principles, no matter the odds stacked against them. A truly moving story, one that I will cherish with my family, specifically my two young sons ... Mr. Braddock is a great example of character and determination. Gotta love those tales of the fighting Irish!

I'd heard of the movie, "The Cinderella Man", when it first came out and I'm quite ashamed to say it never interested me; though, being a 14-year-old teenage girl, I guess it's not really the first thing I would have gone and seen.
Two years later, I was sitting in my English class when my teacher told us we would be doing an essay on a non-fiction narrative; the book, "The Cinderella Man". That was almost 3 months ago, and recently we just watched the movie to revise for our up-coming exams.
I can say I was left in awe after reading the book, and watching the movie cemented it. James J. Braddock certainly was an inspiration and, from what I have read, a proud, honest man.
If only we had more of those men today!

I am not a fan of boxing, but saw the movie for sale today and decided to watch it. I regret not seeing it when it was released in the theaters. The story of James J. Braddock left me in awe. What an amazing human being! My prayers to his family.

Just saw the movie and ran into this site. What a great guy! We ran the NY Marathon in 2005 and it started on the Verrazano Bridge. How cool that Braddock helped build it! Peace to your family!
