James J. Braddock, World Heavy-Weight Champion

Welcome to the official guestbook of the James J Braddock website. Due to spam, we have been forced stop guestbook entries.

We just watched this movie in school to show how hard the 1920s were. not only did it do a good job with that, but it showed how courageous and strong a person can be. It really inspired me.

I just finished watching The Cinderella Man for the 5th Time. As we move into a new year, this movie reminds always gives me hope. Hope for the human spirit, hope for my children, hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Thank you Ron Howard for producing such a wonderful movie and for capturing the spirit of James Braddock and his wife, Mae.

I just finished watching "Cinderella Man". Wow...what an amazing person James Braddock was. I'm inspired by his adversity and character to not only do his best, but what was right.

I recently saw the movie made of his life and it touched my soul.

What a wonderful human being he must have been.

I'm not writing to introduce myself as a long lost cousin, or anything... I just read in The Irish Edition, February 2006 issue, of the passing of Howard Braddock, who was the last living child of Jim Braddock, Cinderella Man.

As a first generation Irish-American, and wife of an avid boxing fan, I write only to say that I found your website after reading of Howard's death.

Be justly proud of your heritage. I'd love to know more about Mae and Jim Braddock... not just about the boxing career.

I'd like to read each of you, the children of the children depicted in the movie: Jay, Howard, and Rosemarie.

My condolences on the passing of Howard. I love the website. And will come back to it often.

Thank you and my good wishes for 2007. May each of you live an interesting life.

james j braddock was an inspiration to us all and he will never be forgotten.
I have been following boxing for 40years and his achievement of beating Max Baer was a triumph of the spirit. The man was a legend in the world of boxing.

I grew up in West New York, Guttenberg And North Bergen. I spent a great deal of my childhood playing in Hudson County Park ( didn't they rename it James J. Braddock Park?). I'm truely sorry that until the movie came out I really didn't know any thing about the Cinderella Man. I think more people should know about the towns they live in and the great Americans who lived there before them.

I could spend hours writting my thoughts about this great person and his amazing story to being Heavy Weight Champion of the World. But I won't bore you, so this is how I sum up James J Braddock, he was an 'amazing unique person'. I have not read a book since i was 10, and now at the age of 22, the story of James J Braddock made me go into my local Library to find out more about him. Mr Braddock, you have had a real affect on my life, Rest In Peace.

What a film but more importantly what a great story of man i have never heard of to my shame. To fight over 100 fights to food on the table and fend for his family. This man was a true legend and a great champion in more ways than one.

After watching Cinderella Man, I am in awe of this great man, James Braddock. His courage and his determination to do his best for his family is still as inspirational today. Although I have never heard about this great man before seeing the film, his memory will always remain with me as one of God's finest creation on Earth.

After seeing the movie "Cinderella Man" I was surprised that James J. Braddock was not someone I had heard of, especially since I am of Irish descent, somewhat of a boxing fan (used to be moreso) and have heard SO many stories of "human triumph" that my attention span for such has become weakened by the sheer volume of words. The Braddock story is at least equal to if not greater than any inspirational story I have ever heard. It is important for this and later generations to understand what life was for James and Mae Braddock and millions of others during the years after 1929. Thanks for the website.

Like James J. Braddock, I am proud to be an Irish-American.
If people in this world had just 1/16 the amount of integrity as this man did, we would all be in a better place.
Take care

What can one say about such a great man, back when men were men. The movie was great and reminded myself of my father. To be down in the dumps and fight your way back and give his family the love and a good life as he did. God bless Jim & his family. He is a true American Icon.
Thanks for the memory's,

I just saw Cinderella Man Christmas day with my husband of 15 years. We have been throuh rough times like many people have. Both me and my husand were so inspired over the determination Mr. Braddack had in him. He did not let anyone stop him from his dream, nor would he ever let his family down. This movie really thought my husband and me what it is to have determination and heart to succed for for family. I love the legend of the Bulldog Braddock.

Just watched this wonderful movie! Coming from a family of Irishman boxers, my grandfather would tell us stories of how he knew this man "Mr. Braddock" that he saw fight in NJ. My grandfather also chose boxing during the depression to put food on the table to feed 4 boys and a wife. He also was a coal, ice and milk man in South Philadelphia, PA. Tough as nails but the legends he spoke of always stuck in my mind. He was a great story teller and enjoyed boxing. When I saw the movie, I placed my grandfather in Jim's shoes from the stories I heard . Thanks for the memories!!!!
