James J. Braddock, World Heavy-Weight Champion

Welcome to the official guestbook of the James J Braddock website. Due to spam, we have been forced stop guestbook entries.

Can't get enough of Jim Braddock and his story. Can't watch "Cinderella Man" enough. This is a truly inspiring film about a man who knew what it was to love his family and did what he had to do to care for them. Keep Jim Braddock's spirit alive, we should all be so courageous. Proof that sometimes the good guy wins.

I had the misfortune to lose my left leg recently. However, whilst laid up in hospital I had the great fortune to watch "Cinderella Man". This movie provided me with the inspiration to get off my butt and get going. Thank you Jim, you are indeed a legend.

My family and I finished watching your movie,"The Cinderlla Man".We were all so touched by your dedication and love for your family and your gift for the sport boxing. My children are young and I explained the great depression and how families survived.Watching your life and reading on to what you accomplished through the years, I am so proud to call you a great American hero! One thing, I am so glad you beat the tar out of Max Baer for the comments of filth towards your wife. You truly showed him what you were fighting for: Your family not just for a name and furs.Rest in peace James and your your family whom joined you.

I've just finished watching the movie, and it's inspirational. He showed great courage and resilience in fighting back from a losing a losing position to win the title. This should reflect in us the daily fight of our lives; no one should give up but stay determined to the end. A prize awaits he/she that continues the fight to the finish, and Jim Braddock showed us that fight; in the boxing ring, family ring and beyond the ring. Lets emulate the great boxer!

For a period of time now I have not been happy with the sport of boxing it has gone to hell. The movie "Cinderella Man"(I am watching right now) it is absolutely awesome.I wish he was in the ring now,I can`t explain that enough.I loved the Max Baer fight. He (Max Baer) needed to loose.I have also noticed the pathetic nature of media and promoters are virtually the same. Thanks for the website and the insight.

I can't tell you how much I needed this story. Such an incredible man with desire. So many people pass up the risks needed to obtain a better life. We get comfortable in what we do everyday making us fearful of change.
Thank you for sharing the journey of Cinderella Man to show us that with faith and a few steps out of our comfort zone we can obtain wonderful things.

Just finished watching Cinderella Man for the umpteenth time (we actually bought the DVD) and all I can say is that it is so uplifting to watch the life story of a man and his wife who stuck through hard times together in such a truly authentic, unselfish way. A great movie to show to young people who do not know what it was like to live through the Great Depression. Wonderfully compiled story about the life of James J Braddock and his wife Mae.

He continues to inspire people today with the man he was and the amazing story of his life. He worked his hands to the bone to provide for his family and when he was on his way back up, he returned the Emergecy Relief money. Then went on to join the Army in WWII even though he obviously didnt need to. A truly selfless man. We need more men like James J. Braddock.

Hi folks,

Thanks for putting this board up. I finally saw all the movie this evening for the first time and it caused me to want to read more about James Braddock which I am sure happens all the time. I was really inspired to read more to see just how much of the movie was really true. It sure appears that much of what is in the movie was real, which of course just makes the story that much more compelling.

I can only imagine the pride that you all have in your grandfather.

Thanks for sharing. Best wishes tom your family.

Watching the Cinderella Man on 17 Novermber 2006, was quite touching. I was home sick, and I was constantly turning the channel, and low and behold this movie caught my attention. I learned so much about the great depression in the thirties,;and I wondered how in the world did my parents make it. My parents were also immigrants from the West Indies. and they struggled to raise the family. I was born and rasied in Brooklyn, New York, and my parents were able to purchase a brown stone home where they raised 4 children. Unlike James Braddock, my family did not receive any financial assistance . However, today it seems like too many individuals are looking for handouts, and not giving back anything to society. I cried when "the man" gave back the assistance that was given to him when he was in need. How I wish that there were more people were like him today. I like the part when his son stole the salami from the grocery store, and he made him return it. What a good lesson. I am proud that my parents taught us not to steal, and learn to do without. My father would always say "waste not want not". My dad rode his bike from brooklyn to Welfare Island were he worked from the age of 19 until he retired. Young people today would not consider riding a bike to the grocery store, much less a "JOB" like my dad. Now that I am an adult and also raised 4 children. Sports helped keep my children focused, and I am proud to say that they have all finished shool. I am so proud of the morals, and teaching of my parents. My dad died at 75, and mom still keeps on living her life like a spring chicken, currenty living in Florida

Born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ., son of Italian boxer from the "Berg". Grew up hearing stories from Dad about "James J.". Your family was blessed to have him. He is a lesson for all men on how to be a real man and to take care of his family no matter what the odds. God Bless you all. Boxing was a small part of this wonderful life.

I have to rank the story of Mr. Braddock's life right up at the top. The movie is one of the most exciting films I have ever seen. Not to mention the touching moments when he would sacrifice for his family. I wish I could have been there to experience it in real life.
