My father was born and raised in Jersey City during the depression...he sold apples on the corners, shoe shines on the old Manhattan Ferries , then a US Merchant Marine,,,and as I grew up (born 1958) My dad would talk about James J and he was always proud that "Jimmy" did it and he would use him for inspiration....He passed that along to me not to ever give up because if you work very hard....the world can be yours! Thank you for the Cinderella Man movie AND THANK YOU JAMES J. BRADDOCK FOR THE GOOD MEMORIES THAT RETURNED TO ME REGARDING MY OWN FATHER WHO PASSED IN 1980. REST IN PEACE....GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!

I admire Mr. Braddock for his courage and love for his family. The film is truly heart warming and it touched my heart. I got on line just to learn more about the man and his family. Thank you for the web page, photo gallery and information.

The movie was a wonderful story about a truly AMAZING man.....Thanks to this site for the bio and all the great pics......Heart and Courage!!!!!!

Boxing has thrown up many exceptional fighters over the years, I have been lucky enough to see a few, but this man was something special.
An inspiration to the people of his era, or any era that says so much about a man of great, great courage, dignity and integrity. James J Braddock a true hero.

There should be a statue to James J Braddock in Dublin. He deserves to be recognised as one of our greatest sons.

Just watched the movie, you are an absolute legend... my missus is crying, with joy. you the man !!!

What an inspiration - A truly great man in the hardest of times. He kept his dignity, his self belief and the undying love for his family. They must be so proud of the man and his memory. If only the boxing world today would look back at men like Braddock and take note. Maybe the sport wouldn't stink as bad as it does.

I have just watched Cinderella Man and throughly enjoyed it. It touched my heart and totally put my faith back into the human race. James and Mae Braddock are an inspiration to all us, to never give up and fight for what you believe in when times are tough, you will get through them.

I watched the film and was captivated by the story, guess thats why I visited the site. I wonder if the story influenced the Rocky film aswell. James has obviously left a legacy and great family behind him, well done that man!

apart from the bravery skill and sheer guts jim braddock had in abundance the movie portrayed mr and mrs braddock as a lovely caring proud and devoted couple to each other and their young family it shows what can be achieved by love and belief in the face of adversity the braddock family of today must feel immense pride when they read these messages and think of jim and mae and the inspiration they are still giving to this day

what a great story and film.braddock was actually a very good fighter.it's amazing when you see the footage against louis how he isn't intimidated by the bomber and puts him on the back foot,although he paid the ultimate price.what a great man.

I was truly moved by the courage and fortitude of this great boxer. In these cynical days of cheap celebrity. It is a good reminder of what really is in the hearts and spirit of a good man. We are all fighting for milk! Thank you for the reminder.

The movie "Cinderella Man" was very inspirational. Not only did we learn how devastating the Great Depression was, but also the determination of Mr. Braddock to keep fighting despite the struggles he and his dear family faced during that difficult time. Like Seabiscuit, Mr. Braddock was that glimmer of hope for the American people when most people seemed to have lost that hope. He was their hero. I didn't know Mr. Braddock and I wasn't born at that time, but in watching the movie, you can't help but feel admiration for a man who fought as hard as he did for his family and himself.

Mr. Braddock is one of the best fighter in his time. In Mr. Braddock fighting days he and other fighters like Joe Louis (The Brown Bomber)worked the ring. Mr. Braddock is one of an original fighter; there will never been a fighters who can replace him. I Melissa Hawkins will always have respect for a person like James J. Braddock.

What a great legend love your story shame there is not a lot more ppl like you today Thank You for hope.

Russell Crowe without a doubt produced his finest performance with his portrayal off JJB.
the producion and direction of the movie was outstanding.
The fight scenes were very realistic,in all no finer tribute could have been paid to one of the all time genuine greats.
